The Beast in the Qur'an?
-
@Sura 27, v. 82 said
And when the Word is fulfilled against them (the unjust), we shall produce from the earth a beast to (face) them: He will speak to them, for that mankind did not believe with assurance in Our Signs.
Unlike the Beast(s) in Revelations, this one is portrayed positively â sent by Allah, after all! According to the hadith, it bears the staff of Moses and the ring of Solomon. "It will strike the nose of the disbelievers with the staff, and it will make the face of the believer bright with the ring, until when people gather to eat, they will be able to recognize the believers from the disbelievers." Among other things.
Then again, maybe it's nothing.

That's very interesting. Thank you.

It's actually verse 83 you're referencing:www.alislam.org/quran/tafseer/?page=781®ion=EN&CR=
"81. Verily, thou canst not make the dead to hear, nor canst thou make the deaf to hear the call, when they retreat turning their backs. 82. And thou canst not guide the blind out of their error. Thou canst make only those to hear who believe in Our Signs, so they submit. 83. And when the sentence is passed against them, We shall bring forth for them an insect[2191] out of the earth which shall wound them because people did not believe in Our Signs. 84. And remind them of the day when We shall gather together from every people a party from among those who rejected Our Signs, and they shall be formed into seperate groups. "
"[2191] This is a prophecy concerning the appearance of plague in the Latter Days. The verse was so construed by the Holy Prophet himself. But if Dabbah is taken in the sense of a grossly materialistic person all whose endeavors are wholly directed to the acquisition of worldly riches and material comforts(34:15), the reference in the verse seems to be to the materialistic western nations 'whose labour is all lost in search after things pertaining to the life in this World.' (18:105) and who have fallen on this world with all their might and main."
So the Yusuf Ali translation says "insect" although the word Dabbah has ALOT of other meanings, beast among them. Arabic words can have a range of meanings depending on the context but I'm not to sure I'd try and stretch this one to refer to a thelemic style 'Beast'. Now it's not so interesting anymore.
