How to attach jpeg to post?
-
Well, that didn't work.
Another try, from my facebook page, the Tower of Light
-
Nope, not working for me.
Here's a bellydancer from pinterest

I give up
I click the Img at the top. I get * and
- together, and I put the URL between them, I only get the word "image"
What am I doing wrong?
-
Bizarre. I dropped the URLs you used into a browser address field and got the images in each case. You do not have "Disable BBCode" checked. Let me look into this.
-
OK, got it! You can see the solution in the third example you posted above, which I got working.
Here's the problem: You have to have the actual link to the picture itself. However, Pinterest (for example) doesn't produce the original picture file, it has a page where it uses different technology (flash, maybe?) to display the picture in its own way.
So... follow along here... the links you posted were all to pages that display pictures, not to the pictures themselves. For example, none of your links end in "jpg," they're pointing to pages not picture files.
On the first two, I thought I could click and open the picture to get at it directly (no go), or right-click and get the URL of the picture (no go). But on the third one, when I right-clicked on the displayed picture, it gave me the chance to "Copy Link." (Different browsers use slightly different language, but the idea is to copy the link or URL of the picture, not the picture itself.)
This gave me what I needed in order to add another line to your earlier post and get the picture to display.
PS - When you have something stored in a place that won't let you do this, your second best option is to post the link itself, using the URL tag, and let people go to the link and see it. But to insert directly, you need the URL of the actual picture (should end in JPG).
-
Whoa, is that complicated!
-
If you have the pictures on your FB page or profile, just share them via link here (you have to have them set to "public" there in order for people outside FB & your friends list can see them).
- Select & copy the full ULR for the picture
- it's the sequence of letters and numbers starting with www.facebook.com... in your browser when you open the particular picture.
-
Paste that sequence here in the "post body" (just as you would write any text when you write a reply on a forum)
-
Select this sequence when added here and click on the URL button above (see buttons under the subject name in the "post a reply" window); now this sequence will have marks on both its ends - it becomes a direct link to your content. It's not immediately visible as a picture on the forum, but it's easily accessible and it's a practical solution regarding saving the forums space and not having to worry weather/when it will be deleted from some hosting site.
I just did that with my pictures in the Thelemic Tefilah thread:

create a photobucket account. It's free. It's forever (allegedly). Upload to them, let them pay for the storage. Put that URL between the IMG tags. Very simple.
For example

-
Photobucket is free and lets you hotlink?
Good to know.
-
OK. Now I will try it with photobucket.
This is my drawing of Heru-Ra-Ha

-
^ No that didn't work. I put the URL for my photobucket between the Img things.
Why did it work for you, Takamba, and not for me?Here's the URL
337.photobucket.com/user/TamaraTornado/media/HeruRaHa.jpg.html?sort=3&o=0 -
Again, your URL doesn't end in .jpg. U seem to be pasting the link to the Web page that displays your picture, not the address fo the picture file itself.
-
@Takamba said
" create a photobucket account. It's free. It's forever (allegedly). Upload to them, let them pay for the storage. Put that URL between the IMG tags. Very simple.
"I put the URL between the IMG tags as Takamba mentioned.

OK, I am reading Jim's instructions again.
Another try for my drawing of Heru-Ra-Hahttp://i337.photobucket.com/albums/n388/TamaraTornado/HeruRaHa.jpg?t=1445794247

^ WOO-HOO! SUCCESS!
-
Yes, in Photobucket you click the image to obtain it's direct page for you, then you click the "Direct HTML" code button to copy the correct url to use. You figured it out! Yay!
-
Whoops. I didn't even think about space I was taking up on Jim's servers when I uploaded my homemade Zelator and Practicus "hood ornaments" a while back. I'll go back and point my post at my own server. Sorry about that!
