Liber LXV, Cap. III, v. 55-56
    55. This is the world of the waters of Maim; this is the bitter water that becometh sweet. Thou art beautiful and bitter, O golden one, O my Lord Adonai, O thou Abyss of Sapphire!
    56. I follow Thee, and the waters of Death fight strenuously against me. I pass unto the Waters beyond Death and beyond Life.

The Path of Mayim; the bitter water that becomes sweet is a definite change in experience of something that is the same substance. The three attributes (ways of addressing the Divine) may refer to different perception of/relationship with Adonai during the three initiatory phases: the golden one is how Man of Earth perceives the Angel; my Lord Adonai is Lover's perspective/experience; thou Abyss of Sapphire Hermit's.

Death ends an incarnation, and the opportunity for experiences it offers; to go beyond that is to have memory uninterrupted by points of birth & death, in continuity of incarnations; to abide in awareness of it all as single Stream, from a single Source (to be "pending from above").
