Of War and Vengeance

93 all!
I've been doing some meditation on the III Chapter and I want to share some ideas about Ra Hoor Khuit/War/Vengance.
I had some trouble digesting the idea of destruction without a purpose i.e. war and I wanted to follow the interpretation of a literal war. However, there is something that changes things... if you look closely at the text, it is clear that it is capitalized. Vengeance is also capitalized. They are not referring to the common idea of "war" but a special type of war, an internal war. If capitalized, it needs to be understood as not taking place in in Assiah but Yetziratic (or even Briatic). This war is a War that takes place inside the person.
Why War... and why is it that Ra Hoor Khuit presents Himself as God of "War and Vengeance?" Something that came to mind is that the God of the Third Chapter rules over War, meaning that controls the expression of War (Conquers). Since this War is internal, the energy is re-directed for the Great Work (resulting in Peace).
We all know that the GW has to take place in the material plane i.e. Assiah, but the alchemy of transformation also happens (and in fact starts) internally. Vengeance is sparked by the harm we've inflicted by our own words, thoughts and actions. These mistakes are the infliction, upon ourselves, that causes the violent revenge.
We constantly externalize the energy of Ra Hoor Khuit when it needs to be internal, and internalize the energy of Hoor Paar Kraat when it needs to be external, resulting in wasting energy and time.
But like with any initiatory path, when the heart (Heru Ra Ha) is not meditating and balancing these two aspects, little progress is made.Thoughts?

I'd say: Exactly!
Notice also that when you write "war" in Hebrew characters - Vav Alef Reysh - it totals 207. That's immediately recognizable as the value of the Hebrew word for "light." In fact, it's the same letters in a different sequence: VAR vs. AVR. I tend to read each occurence of "war" as meaning "light."

Thank you!
I looked 207 and it seems that pushes this in the right direction, and even clarifies the nature of this War...
ברה – to cut; to feed, to eat; to separate, select.
בהר – to be bright, white.
גדר – to hem in, enclose, surround; hedge in, wall in; wall up; wall-maker, mason; wall of a vineyard; fence; walled place; pr.n. "Enclosure", "Wall", "Fortress"
This last one goes perfectly with the idea in Ch III, v. 4-6:
"4. Choose ye an island!
5. Fortify it!
6. Dung it about with enginery of war!"Further:
זקק – distill, trickle; refine, percolate, filter; to burn, flame, glow; to compress, tie, bind, oblige. This seems to point to the nature of this "War"... to distill and remove the aspects of the self that are obstructing the Light by concentration and constant effort (the fortified island)

I know that there are levels of meaning in this book. I also really appreciate what has been shared here in regard to other means of interpreting this particular passage other than at face value. However, I also think there is value in the surface interpretation as well.
As I read the three chapters, I find myself thinking that the characteristics of Hadit and Nuit are supernal and eternal. There's a sense of timelessness to them as original forces in the universe.
But I also find myself thinking that the third chapter does have elements of this particular aeon in it. It's like saying that the Mother and Father are timeless, but the characteristics of the Child change from aeon to aeon, with this aeon lending a particular flavor the message, the speech, of the dual-natured Child.
Specifically, I see the passage, "I am a God of War and of Vengeance" as related to Science trumping and replacing the "blind faith" kind of Religion of the previous aeon.
In my experience of people growing through the stages faith development (Fowler) in Christianity alone, as one leaves the stage of "this is what WE believe" (stage 3) and enters the stage of "this is what I believe" (stage 4), one sees an empasis on individual reasoning and critical thought. Many times (this is the kind of people I used to work with as a minister), people would experience a period of reaction against the teachings of their youth as well as the teachers who taught them. It's as if one has to pass through a period of seeing that initial teaching as ignorant and evil in order to give themselves the justification for leaving it behind. Only later do they look back and realize it all as a necessary stage in peoples' development, though the majority never actually move past (stage 3), "This is what WE believe."
If you'd allow me to take those stages of development and place the template over humanity's progress as a whole, it seems to me that humanity is entering the individual reasoning and critical thinking of (stage 4), "this is what I believe," along with that stage's emphasis of reason and critical thinking.
To me, the "War and Vengeance" part of RHK's speech could be seen as also demonstrating the intellectual demonization of humanity's previous way of relating to the universe through "blind-faith" kinds of religion.
"I will deal harshly with them"

Funny ... a couple of days before this thread started, I did a ritual to gain understanding of the first 15 verses of Chapter III. So while you all think you are innocently contributing to a thread of your own free will, in reality you are compelled to write on this topic by the might of my magick! Mwa-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha!!!
(Okay, that's a bit paranoid. Sorry. But it was fun to say.)

Also, true.

wow, two posts on a similar theme, I rarely post here but this is one of the more intriguing puzzles to the book, the 'war' of chapter 3. If you dont mind, I am just re posting what I wrote in the other thread, but it equally applies here.
So what's up with the third chapter? why all the war, war, war? what does this have to do with love and life and light and liberty? isn't this being the law contrary to blowing our brothers to bits and drinking their blood and eating their flesh in victory? of course it is. So one must either accept that the author of Liber Al was Cthulu, or it means something else entirely.
So I will share with you my own unique understanding of liber Al ch III. It' actually now one of my favorite chapters - I admit I may have a unique twist on it and I can't really explain how I have come to these conclusions exactly, really just from many hours of meditation, vision, intuition, and of course I am sure some delusion thrown in for good measure, but my understanding makes sense to me and there fore I dig it
I also except that the author of liber al is higher intelligence that is guiding humanity which also needs assistance, and the book of the law is the 'gymnasium' for the psyche to understand a few next steps and where the right person can help full fill some of it's prophecy, even just a little bit. Because it is essentially a book of knowledge and power (understanding and wisdom is supplied by the reader and is necessary to unlock it's secrets) it's also dangerous, both to the individual studying it and to the power or knowledge one can use for it for nefarious purposes (L Ron Hubbard comes to mind). So the most shocking components serve a few purposes, both to project the knowledge while also protecting the knowledge. An open secret, so to speak.
I believe the third chapter reveals the 'messiah' emerging, messiah being of course Ra Hoor Khuit, which I understand as the 'collective intelligence' of humanity, operating with a 'collective true will' and that true will collectively can be understood as simply as 'win win' for all. The emergence of this collective intelligence in the 20th and now 21st century is what destroys the old order - and yes, this is indeed a war.
WAR in the third chapter relates to the 'conflict of idea' - the 'wars which are in heaven' - our psyche. No matter how jesus or buddha we are, ideas are always going to be in conflict and every idea thought of has an opposite in contradiction to it. Dont think of this just in terms of our own individual psyche's, think of this in terms of our collective psyche and the conflict of idea. The conflict of idea is eternal and this war is eternal. However, we are not ideas of course and when we confuse ourselves as our ideas, things get bloody, violent, irrational, lose lose, etc etc. This is nothing new, bloody wars have been going on forever as well as dysfunctioning society. For the first time in history, and yes I believe this is predicted in the third chapter, humanity through technology that is indeed allowing a collective intelligence to emerge, is actually in a reasonable position to create a functioning 'win win society'. Through technology, we can actually focus on the conflict of idea as a method of resolution instead of actual war fare.
Social Media is the third chapter incarnate, it's tearing down structures, religions, institutions, governments, industries. And it's not using violence to do it. It's doing it with information, spreading through technology, and increasing the speed of the historical dialectical process that will allow a rational collective intelligence to emerge. The conflict of idea allows us to work together to increase our understanding, wisdom, intelligence, humor so we can problem solve, negotiate, and find resolution.
In this light, War is most certainly love.
