Liber LXV, Cap II, v. 12-13
12. Also it came to pass, that thereby she sickened, and corrupted before me. Almost I cast myself into the stream.
13. Then at the end appointed her body was whiter than the milk of the stars, and her lips red and warm as the sunset, and her life of a white heat like the heat of the midmost sun. -
When you continue for a long time, the perception of the Ideal naturally changes. This is a real critical point now (and indicates by itself that a break-through is due) - "she sickened, and corrupted before me. Almost I cast myself into the stream", i.e. the forms of worship that were functional until now - primarily regarding the perception of the object itself - are not adequate any more.
"The end appointed" indicates it's not up to the human will alone - the whole process has its own rhythm and course; Persistence is the true key. The object of worship becomes transformed for Adept's perception, it's not not a form only any more, not an object, it's now experience of explosion of Life & Light.
