I read the following Reich excerpt a number of years ago and found it fascinating:
    www.greylodge.org/occultreview/glor_012/Reich_SexEconomy.pdf
I wondered if the sin associated with sex by the Catholic church was a way to manipulate the masses into performing the 'technique' of abstinence.

Recently I started reading "Sexual Energy and Yoga" by Elizabeth Haich (thanks for the suggestion!) and had another speculative thought - if sexual energy is the fuel that fires up the higher faculties, and if a mystic were to dissipate this energy through physical sex and find his higher faculties dimmed, might he perceive sex as evil, as leading him away from God?

On another note, here are a couple of thought provoking books on relationships.

Also read Crowley's Energized Enthusiasm. You're right that one kind of problem can develop from depleting the energy in a wasteful way; but another can arise from repression. It's the polarity of Amfortas and Klingsor.

I've read int the Voudon Gnostic Workbook that sacrificing sperm to spirits actualy increases your potency because the spirits will you to sacrifice more! Is that in some way true? Biologicaly it shouldn't be true and the Taoist sexual practices I'm aware of (Mantak Chia) do not involve ejaculation but transformation in the body. So you get sex but without ejaculation. Now that's abstinence! But Crowley used sperm in various magical ways. I've read somewhere that he drank it, did cakes of light, annoit talismans - that involved sacrificing it to spirits? What else did he do with it? Mhm. I hope it's not too off topic.

Mantak Chia writes that to master one woman energeticaly it takes about 20 years. Having read Kenneth Grant I tend to agree.
Mantak Chia is a goldmine for energy related practices. I dumped the chakra system for the Taoist one because it is so exact and easy to understand.

    93,

    Sexual energy is a fuel.

Id be careful about jumping to such generalized conclusions about sex & morality in general... Its quite complex, even if you look solely at the changes in Christianity (which would be quite a narrow view)...

That didnt involve 'sacrificing it to spirits'... Perhaps you should read the materials like Magick/Liber ABA?? He is rather clear...

Also, I hope you dont get caught up in the whole 'ejaculating makes you lose your sexual power!' The converse is 'not ejaculating blocks up your machinery!' Or... it turns you into a priest (in the hypocritical sense that people outwardly say something but inwardly struggle with their basic biological drives)

Personally, I believe in having as many orgasms as possible, yet only achieving orgasm for a purpose. You can learn to have sex and masturbate w/out achieving orgasms. You can keep this process going for an indefinite amount of time. Basically, if you are going to orgasm, direct it towards some purpose, it is extremely powerful. If you want to have sex or masturbate, after "delaying" the orgasm a couple of times, you will have achieved all of the pleasure you desire and most times an orgasm is unnecessary. When you do orgasm though, try to have a real purpose for it. You can use that energy to your "advantage".
