Bhakti yoga
-
I did a Bhakti Working in the mid-1970s which has been one of the most fundamental and important magical and mystical experiences so far of my short existence on this benighted planet. The deity was Pan, and I constructed the Working along the lines of Crowley's very suggestive instructional Liber Astarte.
Pan seemed the appropriate choice because as a dessicated intellectual, the wild energy of Pan was what I felt I was lacking.
The Working was a great experience. Whilst it was not the case that thereafter I permanently throbbed with the wild energies of Pan, it did bring a flavour of Pan into my life.
Bhakti is a beautiful Working, and I'd recommend it to anyone.
Best wishes,
Michael.

If the kundalini chakra system were to be symbolized by Thelema; then the Aeon/Angel/Shin card of the THOTH tarot deck would be a fitting symbol.
Ra-Hoor-Khuit would be the concentration of kundalini shakti raised to the crown.
Hadit would be the pentagram/malkuth which has entered into samadhi/yoga on Nuit/kether [the object of devotion].
And the Spell of Ra-Hoor-Khuit [Liber AL vel Legis III:36-38] being the projection of Heru-Pa-Kraath by Ra-Hoor-Khuit would be equivalent to the expression of Nuit [via yoga].
All together the card is a symbol of Bhakti Yoga, initiating Silence. Liber AL II:8 "Who worshipped Heru-pa-Kraath have worshipped me; ill, for I am the worshipper."
The following is the major invocation utilized by the soul-trek & soul-safari system:
AIWAZ confirm my troth with Thee! My will inspire
With secret sperm of subtle, free, creating Fire!
Mould thou my very flesh as Thine, renew my birth
In childhood merry as divine, enchanted Earth!
Dissolve my rapture in Thine own, a sacred slaughter
Whereby to capture and atone the Soul of Water!
Fill thou my mind with gleaming Thought intense and rare
To One refined, outflung to Naught, the Word of Air!
Most, bridal bound, my quintessential Form thus freeing
From self, be found one Selfhood blent in Spirit-Being.

ABRAHADABRA!"93,
Liber V vel Reguli gives chakra attributions: muladhara is Hadit, the sahasrara is Nuit and anahata is RHK.

"Having used Astarte yet once again since the last post of mine, I would have to say that it is one of the best (if not the best) of all of the instruction Crowley wrote, obviously not including the Class A papers."
93,
I think it is beautifully written with a lot of great exposition. He is so clear and complete.
Perhaps you could grace us with a record of a ritual working you did with it?

"In "Liber Astarte", paragraph 45, Crowley talks a bit on Sacrifice and says that if the reader "comprehend the number of the paragraph" they will understand the paragraph will be understood. Is this at all refering to the "Secret Nature of Yetzirah"?"
No.
Obligations (not from A.'.A.'. but from other sources) prohibit me from volunteering the answer. The Philosophus should consult his or her Dominus on this matter; or, possibly, what I've said here will actually disclose it to you.

I have done a primitive type of Bhakti before, uniting myself with the energies of Woden as the Lord of Inspiration. It was amazing, and I am still receiving so much in the way of inspiration, strength, and love.
Thanks to the OP for posting the list. Definitely something I wish to explore again on a higher level, when the time comes.

ah a strong invocation, I worked on such a practice, without really understanding it, from the age of 14 - 17 with my fascination with and one might say hero worship of Loki. Which at around 16 I was introduced in Discordianism which at first I worked Eris as a sort af wiccan complementary female side of Loki. As this was when I was a beginner and had taken wicca to be a sort of lite version of ceremonial magick and still had much of the liberal, green, brainwashing of the time period freshly impressed in my mind, with a chip against human beings and myself for destroying the world. (Hippie rubbish)
But it was a strong Lokean influence than helped me cut through the bullshit and get to the heart occultism. (Loki is the perfect example of Neitzsche's magician from Zarathustra, A trick and a lie for everyone bit no sweet lies to tell himself to shield his eye from the cold hard world, and he changes shape so much that he has no true form, rather all forms are an expression of his Will to decieve, Loki is the thus perfect archetype for the magus)
I should thing one could do worse than to perform a yoga with Loki to the point of Samadhi. Though though this synthesis of truth and irony may be a quite bit stormier than other invocations.

Froclown,
I've been thinking about the Loki as Magus and Loki/Eris correspondences that you brought up.
On the Loki/Magus tip - first things first, I pulled out good ol' 777 and looked up Scandinavian Gods - there is Loki, along with Odin, corresponding to sephiroth 8, Hod. Now Odin ALSO corresponds to sephiroth 2, Chokmah... but Loki does not.
How do you interpret that based on your wanting to assign Loki to the position of a Magus (sephiroth 2)?
Also I wonder if you have any recommendations on readings with Loki in them. I seem to have a different view of him then you do and I'm wondering where your ideas came from. For example "a lie for everyone bit no sweet lies to tell himself to shield his eye from the cold hard world"... maybe I've been spending too much time with the Marvel Loki, but I don't remember anywhere reading that Loki has ever honost with himself.

Well, I harvested than line from "Thus spoke Zarathustra", not exclusive to Loki, but to all trickster types, is that by lying to others so much, and seeing how easy any obvious fiction can induce the sentiments of Certainty, meaningfulness, and passions to act on these lies, and time and time again while trying to convince others, the trickster will begin to believe his own lies. That over time he loses all faith in any Truth.
But since we define the highest TRUTH to be that of the Magus, who realizes than "Nothing is TRUE" or rather than TRUTH is beyond expression and understanding, thus all words and thoughts are lies. The Magus IS truth, but speaks only lies and his art is nothing but illusion and sophistry that deceives the world. See liber B vel Magi.
I have also seen it stated that as Loki and Odin were blood brothers, that is in a since they are eachother'- shadow, a dualistic pairing of Wisdom and folly. Odin being Hockmah, Wisdom and a sky God like Zues.
Loki by being such a deceiver of others, undermines his own fundamental lies, his certainty in anything, that is his ego attachments to any set truth, This is the Magus who destroys himself. Loki then in the Fool, the blind Ox, who is the path from Hockmah to Kether. (sometimes called the juggler, as he juggles many lies and world views, but does not keep any one as his pet belief or indulge in any secret little truth of his own.)
Thus is the Magus, Everything to everyone, and nothing to himself.
Eris, I would put at binna, basically a passive version of Loki. Sort of an inner void, but to reach it one must progress through the fragmented chaos of her outer expression, like a black hole orbited by an asteroid belt. dispersion tears all ideals and perceptions apart on the outside, but every thing is focused and implodes into a point after the event horizon.
