Do what thou wilt shall be the whole of the Law.
Recently, being new to the Thelemic texts, but oh so drawn to them; I was discussing some random thoughts shooting through my head. Here is the discussion. I am looking for others thoughts on my ramblings, and also each person's own answer to the question my friend posed. I found it very provoking to thought.
Me: I was just pondering..., "Love is the law, love under will." So many say it, but do they truly understand it? It sort of hit me a few minutes ago, if Love is the law.. and the Law is Thelema (True 'WILL'), then isn't the Law to Love (and admire) the True Will?
Friend: This you will have to find out for yourself. Very few understand what love is.
(Now.. the question I am looking for others to also answer for themselves)
Friend: Who, or perhaps what; do you really love?
(Now, this caught me off guard and left me blank in thought. Then this statement came to me; even though I do not fully understand it or know if it makes sense or not.. it flowed from me).
Me(answering): "Love Thyself, for we are but the Hadit in Nuit."
Friend: Thy Self is what to you?
(I proceeded to ramble on.. )
Me: For "thySelf", when understood.. is also All. (Self = Hadit, Nuit = ALL)
The Hadit in the Nuit, the All in the ALL.I ask all of you, please think on this and relay what you think of this, and ALSO attempt to answer the question posed, "Who, or perhaps what; do you really love?"
Thanks in advance. I look forward to this.

Nuit: (I - 51)
"Also, take your will and fill of love as ye will, when, where, and with whom ye will! But always unto me."
Hadit: (II-7)
"I am the Magician and the Exorcist. I am the axle of the wheel, and the cube in the circle. “Come unto me” is a foolish word: for it is I that go."
Self=Hadit in the context you use it seems a bit misleading. As I understand it, The Book of the Law calls us to worship Nuit, and communicates that the thing that is doing the worshipping is Hadit. I wouldn't relate it to Self... maybe it's just a misunderstanding of the term "Self" which is throwing me. It has too many loaded meanings.
Course then you could throw some word in front of it and trump me, something like True Self... but that just throws my gears out of whack and gets me thinking about True Will... which is what I'm now thinking your question is... "what is your true will...", but then I have problems.
Me1: What DO I love? Well I love X.
Me2: But do you REALLY love X.
Me1: I'd REALLY love to smack you right now.
Me2: Is that like reverse masterbating?
Me1: Well, there is Love and there is LoveSorry if this doesn't address the question - I'm a bit rusty today.

Do what thou wilt shall be the whole of the Law.
The thing that originally sparked this, was my pondering of, "..love under will." This text has helped me greatly. Maybe it will be of use to another who may arise in them the same question.

Love is the law, love under will.** -
Ugh - that article is horrible. It defines love as:
-
If we accept that love is the desire for connection
-
A key element in real love is the acceptance for the object of desire to be only exactly what it is
-
Therefore, part of loving acceptance is an acknowledgment that the object of desire will, in one way or another, change over time.
-
Therefore, we can say that how love is expressed is a matter of seeking an optimal balance between letting something be and reaching out to exert influence.
So it seems to be saying something like:
Love is the desire for connection with something as it is, but accepting that it's changing, so it won't be the same thing you originally loved, and you have to let that thing be, although you'll be reaching out to exert influence over it...
Or something like that.
Sorry for the outburst, I'm in a wood chopping mood today and this article seems like it's made for the fireplace.
I mean it starts out with the intention of talking about Love and Will and it doesn't get to Will until the last paragraph where it coughs up a sentence like:
"This then is a central practice of the Thelemite—to learn how to love, for to learn how to love is to learn how to be Willful. "
...but without an explanation of why...
Willful can be defined as
- done by design
- habitually disposed to disobedience and opposition
To learn how to love is to learn how to do things by design? To learn how to love is to learn how to be habitually disposed to disobedience?
I guess I'm just missing it.

Do what thou wilt shall be the whole of the Law.
Very interesting question, it does get me thinking...
correct me if im wrong.. me rambling too
Love is a bi-product of will, (will) being as one's True will, from what i know doing what one loves is the same as what one (wills), kinda like follow your heart and your (will) will be right behind it, which ties in with (Do what thou wilt shall be the whole of the Law), for doing what though wilt or what you love to do, or do it with love.
But on the other hand, I love the Universe and the diverse energies that encompass it, or is it the Universe that encompasses the diverse energies?
that came from a dream i had a few years ago, i fell asleep on my foldout bed in te livingroom and experienced a very lucid dream which i believe i astral traveled in my sleep, happens here and there, anywho i found myself sitting crosslegged in front of a small bush in the desert over in eqyt somewhere, and behind the bush which i was faceing was what i believe the lost city of gold in egypt or something, very beautifull, and i was bold with a off-white robe whith a purple thing that rapped around it, i forget what there called, but the bush was burning blue flame, and i saw the universe in that bush, which lots of beautifull colors, not like space or galaxies, but like the source of energy, life, in a ball showing itself in the bush, and i remember seeing writing in english in it? most i dont know, but the words god and goddess stood out and i felt the love of the universe, the god and goddess and the same blissfull loved returned also.
one of the most blissfull experiences in my life, and that is when i experience something deeper then love for lack of a better term, like my heart and will was in sync with universe.
so i guess i can say that this experience will always lie deep within me and hopefully i can reach that state again someday.
So there is my answer on what or who i realy love per say, besides my wife and kid, hope this help

It is nearly impossible to answer the OP question as presented.
Is your love something you reserve for private, or something you express to everyone you see, every single day?
Love, per Thelema, is not something intended merely to be pontificated upon... the wisdom to be gained is only through the continuous refinement of its expression.
We, as Thelemites, hold that will is the primal force of creation, and love is its highest motivation.
We, as Thelemites, also hold that you are the primary actor of creation.
Every day you wake up and empower yourself with your daily rituals... showering (or not), shaving (or not), coffee (or not), smoking (or not), LBPR (or not), Resh (or not), television (or not), books (or not), work (or not)... The combinations are as endless as the number of paths upon which we walk, yet one must not forget that each combination creates a path.
Respect them all. Love them all. Treat everyone you meet as a King and a God, for we, as Thelemites, know that we are.
To paraphrase John Lennon: displays of love and peace aren't just for hippies in the 60s... love and peace are eternal.
Strive to become the ultimate example of love and peace in your life and, given enough time, you will answer your own question.
