Function of 9=2 described in Al-Qur'an

Good find.
BTW that's not of 9=2 per se, but of those particular instances that are Magi of an Aeon or primary dispensation.

Doesn't Crowley state over and over that 9=2 and Magus of the Aeon are identical - cf. One Star in Sight?

No. O.S.I.S. is a good example of where he pointedly distinguishes between the two. For example:
"This does not mean that only one man can attain this Grade in any one Aeon, so far as the Order is concerned. A man can make personal progress equivalent to that of a โWord of the Aeon;โ but he will identify himself with the current word, and exert his will to establish it, lest he conflict with the work of the Magus who uttered the Word of the Aeon in which He is living."

Is this event not addressed in the latter portion of the verse?
We replace it with one better or one similar

My thoughts are:
Uttering such a Word is not a prerogative for the Magus to get his or her ideas in play but, rather, the Magus being in the place to witness what the actualmain impulse is behind the whole of humanity at that point.
Technically, yes, one could articulate this differently than one's predecessor, either as a synonym or a substream. If the Word of the Aeon were Hot, then another Magus could utter Blazing or Warming without running contrary to the actual flow of life-force through humanity.
One must then be curious about why one would do this. There are, of course, ego reasons to filter out. There could be a legitimate strategic reason. Or maybe there is no reason to say anything different at all.
Clear back at 2=9, emerging from the magical retirement that disclosed to my my True Will in 11 words consisting of 37 letters, the main fruit of the occassion was, of course, having a central, core statement that summarized everything I'd ever aspired to be, ever attempted to be, had become, and was flowing toward - that explained every exultation and humiliation, etc. But, as a secondary fruit - that sentence reduced to a six-lettered Word that encoded it. And from this (which was a message to me), dropping the first letter made it the message that (in fulfillment of the primary impulse that had been disclosed to me for my own life) by dropping one letter the Word became the message I would give to others. The message was 111% compatible with the Word THELEMA, and shit damn mother-fucker it unumerated to 31!
But this was the Word given to a Zelator, not a Magus. Sure, it has continued to serve me personally and in my greater Work for a quarter of a century and, heck, if I ever needed some Word to utter to the world, I'm sure it would do, but... Why? What would it serve? It wouldn't further the underlying purpose that inspired it. It wouldn't add to my ability to do my True Will (unless I needed some kind of catchy slogan at some point, which so far hasn't been the case). I can't see that it would do anybody eolse anygood.
I'm perfectly satisfied (in the true sense of satis) to say: The word of the Law is Thelema.

i forget wich official document of the A'.'A'.' i read it on, but that highest grade ipissimus i believe it is, they have to do a paper or something on i guess you could say "the word, from their individual perspective from their unique attainment" i probly got it wrong, i forget what was exactly said but something on the lines of it, and then go forth and create and maintain "their own garden of students".
like AC, he created the AA as i see it as his own garden of students, just as other adepts go off and create their own establishments.
and jim if you know which document im talking about it would be great if you could quote it, i cant find it at the moment, or just correct me if im completely wrong lol

Yeah. No such assignment. One doesn't have to write a paper to be Ipsissimus <vbg>.
"i forget what was exactly said but something on the lines of it, and then go forth and create and maintain "their own garden of students"."
That's a phrase from the description of Master of the Temple. - I think you're partially remembering and distoring an assignment for 7=4, blending it with a characteristic of 8=3, etc.

"p.s. - I'm a bit obsessed with the word 'Kairos'. 'nother time perhaps. "
You should do your own Kairos Working & call it Liber Alrah..
-
Is that different from a mastery of Netsach?

"Yeah. No such assignment. One doesn't have to write a paper to be Ipsissimus <vbg>."
i didnt mean it as you have to write a paper to be ipsissimus.

but there is another document that goes more in depth with the grades. -

"Just trying to form a concept of what a Magus truely is is difficult..."
Try this visualization:
All life streams forth as a single, coherent stream. We call it chiah. Conceive of it as a single stream of enormous power. - From this, branch forth (for example) all the main branches of life. (Biologists might, for example, anticipate one for the plant kingdom, one for the animal kingdom... but the details don't matter for the sake of the visualization.) - As it branches and subdivides, down to a particular species, and down eventually to a single fillament for each living member of the species, the branchings become more specialized and distinctive.
Now imagine an individual who, by peering deeply into himself or herself and making transparent certain layers and veils, is able to (so to speak) float upstream past that specialization, closer and closer to the headwaters of the original stream. The (symbolic) waters flowing through this individual would be the same waters that eventually make their way into every tributary downstream.
To put this in more psychological terms, we can say that these root waters of chiah reflect the more primal impulse, common to all "downsteram" beings. What flows here, upstream, is common to all of the particular kinds of life that are found downstream from it. Metaphysically we coud say that this is that "word" that is common to all of them - and, therefore, that represents the "law" common to all of them.
The Magus - speaking in totally pragmatic terms - is that one individual, at any particular point of time, who, out of the whole of the human race presently alive, is furthest upstream, and therefore is vehicle of the truest expression of what flows through each and all of them. A Magus would be anyone far enough upstream to sit 'behind' the common impulse, or truth, or word, or desire (etc.) of the whole species.
"Perhaps it's possible that if you're going to become a magus, then the magus you are in the future gives you a word back in time to ensure and prepare the vessel?"
Well, that's what happened to Crowley. He wasn't a Magus until 1915, and in 1904 wasn't even what the A.'.A.'. today would call an Adept.

As with every other map, of course
