This isn't exactly news. It's been the nature of some parts of the astral plane for longer than humanity has existed.

But to answer your question: If there were any conflictual feelings and reactions at the subconscious level (which binds all known life forms), then there is conflict on the astral plane - of which the personal subconscious is simply the local beach.

Or, by deductive reasoning: most birds and mammals dream, so predators have very well have been chasing prey on the astral for at least a couple hundred million years.
