1 May - (Earth) Liber LXV, 1:50-52

50. Adonai spake yet again with V.V.V.V.V. and said:
The earth is ripe for vintage; let us eat of her grapes, and be drunken thereon.
51. And V.V.V.V.V. answered and said: O my lord, my dove, my excellent one, how shall this word seem unto the children of men?
52. And He answered him: Not as thou canst see.
It is certain that every letter of this cipher hath some value; but who shall determine the value? For it varieth ever, according to the subtlety of Him that made it. -

"
If I were only dafter
I might be making hymns
To the liquor of your laughter
And the lacquer of your limbs."" If bathing were a virtue, not a lust
I would be dirtiest. To some, housecleaning is a holy rite. For myself, houses would be empty But for the golden motes dancing in sunbeams. Tax-assessors frequently overlook valuables. Today they noted my jade. But my memory of you escaped them. "

51. And V.V.V.V.V. answered and said: O my lord, my dove, my excellent one, how shall this word seem unto the children of men?
Is this curiosity idle? Is it a confession of doubt or love for the children of men? Is the casual tone part of the message?
52. And He answered him: Not as thou canst see.
It is certain that every letter of this cipher hath some value; but who shall determine the value? For it varieth ever, according to the subtlety of Him that made it.Is it wrong of me to assume that I am the one who will determine its meaning?
Like the gold coins that fall along side the two figures in the Blasted Tower, or as mana from heaven.

The last paragraph speaks much to the very subject of this "Meditation of the Day" forum. The meaning of the words "varieth ever" according to the subtlety of perception of whosoever looks upon them.
The message seems simple: The earth is ripe for harvest - not fermented or aged, but come to maturity. Neshamah and Chiah are ready to enjoy it (and each other) in its fullness. But the nature of things is such that to those who are not of the Supernals will see things... differently. Reason and emotion cannot see the face of reality as Neshamah can.
The solution - the path to the enduring conscious embrace of Adonai - is to awaken Neshamah and view from there.

With the return of the V.V.V.V.V. and Adonai, and the silence of the scribe, there is a lighthearted dance to the lines themselves that reminds me of 'the golden motes dancing in sunbeams.' A certain kind of love poem seemed in order.
I am aware that my attitude, my reaction to the lines is self indulgent. I am also aware that I don't have any good reasons for not allowing myself the pleasure of being self indulgent! Emotion may not be appropriate, but it was a feeling nonetheless that inspired me. All I wanted to do was allow the words to remind me about this love. So I sought out the poems I remembered that seemed capable of enhancing this feeling.
I was very tired yesterday, having only managed about four hours of sleep the previous night. I think this helped put in a mood where the last thing I waned to do was fight. My images, variable as they must be down below, were all about glasses of rich, sweet wine; a plate of fresh bread and aged cheese, and good cured olives... I am sitting in a cafe, the sun is setting, the light is a glorious golden color, the air soft and warm, and I am in love.
