Liber 776 1/2 LBRP instructions
-
In Liber O, Crowley gives instructions on how to vibrate God names. This requires the student to inhale the letters, then preform the sign of the Horus while exhaling (vibrating?), then the sign of silence.
The instructions in Liber O don't specifically mention to use the same vibrational formula presented earlier. It just instructs to say the God Name.
In the Continuum Vol.1 # 1, It repeats the vibrational instructions from Liber E, followed by :
The mistake of many beginning students is to think that these instructions do not apply to the Lesser Ritual of the Penta- gram, but I assure you that the God names of IHVH, ADNI, AHIH, and AGLA should be so vibrated. The instruction under (e) is performed at the end of the Ritual.
What does this mean exactly? When do we use the vibrational formula (Sign of Horus & Silence)?
The instructions in liber 776 1/2 dont use this formula. We are just instructed to point the wand in the center of the pentagram, and vibrate the God-name.
The instructions in The Continuum say we should use that formula the end of the ritual? Not sure what this means.
However in their step by step instructions, they instruct the student to preform the sign of silence after conjuring the arch-angels. Where does the sign of Horus fit in here, and when do we "inhale" the God names? -

Yes, that's the GD technique more fully titled "Vibration of Divine Names by the Formula of the Middle Pillar."

I've long disagreed with Phyllis on this point. I think the mistake is made by those who think that the VDM-FMP method does apply to the Pentagram ritual.
I'm not saying it cannot be thus used; I'm only saying that it isn't the intention of the Liber O instruction.
I suspect that Phyllis' p.o.v. came from having relatively little experience in particularized invocatory work. The main things "vibrating a God Name" meant to her were such things as the Pentagram Ritual. From that angle, one might be left wondering, "If this vibration technique isn't used for the Pentagram and Hexagram rituals, whatever would one use it for?"
"The instructions in liber 776 1/2 dont use this formula. We are just instructed to point the wand in the center of the pentagram, and vibrate the God-name."
Yes.
"The instructions in The Continuum say we should use that formula the end of the ritual? Not sure what this means."
"No, she was saying vibrate each Divine Name that way, but only do the Sign of Silence once - at the end of the ritual - not for each vibration.

I was originally taught to do the more elaborate process at each pentagram, so I was skeptical about the simpler version.
However in practice I've found it at least as powerful to simply touch the center of the pentagram and pronounce (in a 'vibrating/chanting' tone) the divine name.
The other thing I picked up on this forum, that I found quite effective, was the pattern of breathing when tracing the pentagram. Inhale when drawing upstrokes, exhale on down strokes, and hold your breath for the level line of the pentagram.
The single sign of silence at the very end is really powerful, I find.
