I am assuming the experience of purging the inmost self of the personality and uniting it to the universe is beyond my understanding, so I won't ask for any examples since I also assume there would be none that are common enough to convey what this means.
But, "the conscious joy of causing just those thoughts which have always been the source of error to glow with purity and splendour at the touch of the Angel," what does this mean? Can you cite any example or give a 'for instance' that will help me understand what the master is talking about?

Let's start with a lighter example. One of the most useful, informative, and important principles of the mysteries is: When the Light hits, it empowers ALL patterns in the psyche."
Common thought tends to hold that the more spiritual a person is, the "better person" they are. A closer truth is that, the more spiritual a person is, the more intense a person they are - for good or bad. That is, however their psyche (especially thier subconscious mind) is patterned will be more intensely vivified. - This is the reason the modern mysteries encourage psychotherapy (or an equivalent) as a preliminary or companion to initiatory work in the early stages.
Now let's step it up a bit, to the state Crowley is discussing in his commentary. Liber LXV describes the relationship of the Adept to the Holy Guardian Angel, so every passage presumes the accomplishment of the K&C of the HGA. Within the Adept's experience in Tiphereth there is no difficulty opening the gates to "sunlight" illuminating everything whatsoever. The characteristic of abiding in Tiphereth is the Vision of Beatitude, the witniessing of sublime beautification if everything whatsoever. (It's a good practice for those not yet awakened to Tiphereth to practice, as a mindfulness exercise.) But, agian, this is without discrimination. The stupidest thought can appear as sublimely beautiful as the most intelligent one - etc. "Everything is beautiful," as the song goes.
And which thoughts are we most likely to think most often? Well, unless we've done something to "confront them, know them, call them by name, and move past them," it will be the same thoughts we've more or less always thought. The Q'lippothic side of Tiphereth of unbalanced ego. Being fired into the divinity of one's own unique and distinguished self is only half the attainment - one must experience that in the context of the whole. Not just a Star - but "one star in the company of stars." Especially until that recognition is complete and routine (and, to a lesser extent, even after - the Adept still being human), there remains the tendency to reinforce and fill with sunlight our vision our most habitual thoughts. These, like everything else, "glow with purity and splendour at the touch of the Angel."
The solution is for the Adept not to be satisfied with Adepthood - not to take it as the last step but, rather, as a new start - and to continue to progress in the dissoluton of the prior self before the increased infusion of the HGA into oneself. (The grades past 5=6 are progressive steps in the intimacy of the union with the Angel, as it bears one to the threshold of the Abyss.) The accomplishes the goal he stated: "to purge it of personality and unite it with the Universal, though such Attainment lies too deep for direct conscious apprehension."

Yes. The samadhi which is marked by the fullness of viveka is realized in the crossing of the Abyss. (If we did not know this, than the fact that it is past the compelling influence of the gunas already tells us that it is at least Chesed, because the Path of Kaph has been mastered.)
