15. Also I prayed unto the Elephant God, the Lord of Beginnings, who breaketh down obstruction.
16. These gods came right quickly to mine aid. I beheld them; I joined myself unto them; I was lost in their vastness.
17. Then I beheld myself compassed about with the Infinite Circle of Emerald that encloseth the Universe. It's suggestive: this parallel between the dark dragon that encircles the heart and the Infinite Circle of Emerald that encloseth the Universe. Typographically they are related.
All that is different is the perspective—finite versus infinite—but structurally they are the same. In some fashion it suggests the identity of Babalon with Nuit. But especially of Nuit and the lowest incarnations of Babalon!
So there is wisdom in the dark passage of the soul, its just the curse of blindness that keeps us enslaved to death. Sweet sweet attachments. I don't know it yet, but eventually I will see past your pretty smiles and behold the great goddess.

"15. Also I prayed unto the Elephant God, the Lord of Beginnings, who breaketh down obstruction."
Today I have to make an unreasonable request of someone who has an affinity for elephants. I've been dreading this conversation and have been calling on my HGA to give me the strength to go forth and have the convo but I still get snagged by the fear of how it could turn out (much like the adept in yesterday's passages.) No matter how the conversation goes, there is a breakthrough waiting on the opposite end. I took this particular sentence to be an oracle of some sort.
"16. These gods came right quickly to mine aid. I beheld them; I joined myself unto them; I was lost in their vastness.
- Then I beheld myself compassed about with the Infinite Circle of Emerald that encloseth the Universe.
"
For me, this is a practical instruction of Love. A disassociation with the limited, rational, transient and full identification with the infinite that is Love. Under will.
- Then I beheld myself compassed about with the Infinite Circle of Emerald that encloseth the Universe.

15. Also I prayed unto the Elephant God, the Lord of Beginnings, who breaketh down obstruction.
The ego still reaching out for assistance against what it views (in ignorance) as an ‘obstruction’.
16. These gods came right quickly to mine aid. I beheld them; I joined myself unto them; I was lost in their vastness.
Shift in perspective –possibly as far as the ego can go?
17. Then I beheld myself compassed about with the Infinite Circle of Emerald that encloseth the Universe.
Even from this state of identification with 'all that is' -the ego is still encircled about. The 'definer' realizes that it is actually the one who is defined -defined by that which isn't definable. It has been brought to the End. As far as the ego can go and it still can't get beyond love and will.
However it has now gained a new perspective (one that I’m having difficulty articulating), an initiation that ultimately leads to another river of running water being passed by.

Sounds like the scribe had a breakthrough. In realizing that he could not do it "himself" he calls on his Angel and the "Elephant God" (whom I don't have a frame of reference for) and is able to progress past the lower self. In reaching the borders of Divinity he is lost in its vastness and it seems he views a vision of Nuit. The infintie circle is all about and is nowhere simultaneously. Consciousness is reaching a level beyond comprehension.
I've been feeling a bit bogged down for the last few weeks due to various reasons. More recently I'm "listening" a bit more to something within myself that basically is saying "you don't know nothing and no matter what you do - you'll never find things out in the ways you think".
In short, I will meditate in persistence and let go of the idea that I can formulate some type of design to reach the goal. Divinity cannot be reached through my rational mind. Though the goal may not be reachable for me - I commit to continue, to strive, and to persist.

13. Then I said: O my beloved, O Lord Adonai, I pray thee to loosen the coils of the serpent!
14. But she was closed fast upon me, so that my Force was stayed in its inception.". . .Adonai, I pray thee. . . !"
"But . . . , so. . . ."
Why does it require Ganesh AND Adonai? Why with Adonai alone was his Force stayed in its inception? Is it just a literary trick to incorporate the specific images of Ganesh with the generic "Adonai" (Lord), or is there technique being suggested here by specifically calling on Ganesh?

I was aking myself the same question...and came to this conclusion: Ganesh is the form of God coresponding to Yesod; 'there' is the 'place' to look for, to loosen the coils of this 'old serpent'/qliphotic aspect of Nephesh.
(and there are many implications coming out of this...) -
they are 2 gods with very different actions. how would that be requiring two gods? one is the angel, the other a banishing agent (tool). i think the word "pray" is being used in 2 very different, ganesh being utilitarian.

Thanks for those responses. Good stuff.

The consequence of these actions is that his consciousness actually expands. He isn't bound by the circumstances of the transient. They have become eternal.

A constant stumbling block for me in these texts is the apparent transition from a finite perspective to an infinite one. This passage, and those of the past few days is another example of this: from a tight, limited and constricting of the dragon of corruption encircling the heart to that vast and incomprehensible Circle of Emerald that encloseth the Universe.
There is no mathematical progression that can show when and where this will finally happen.
Paradox says this is not possible if the progress is incremental. So maybe, at some point the system totally collapses, and... BAM! Maybe it's just a consequence of the habit of expansion—assuming the God form of Ganesh so to speak, that spontaneously takes over at some point, sort of like accidentally coding a recursive loop into the program which causes the system to crash, or like those Toyota cars that get stuck in acceleration mode, overriding all the other safety controls and brakes?

Yesterday, driving up to Seattle, I started re-listening to the "Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy" ('78 radio version, which I hadn't listened to since I was about 4).
If you don't know the plot of the first few minutes/pages, it's this: A construction company intends to bulldoze a man's house to make way for a highway. The man's neighbor insists on taking the man to a pub, where the neighbor reveals himself to be a stranded alien who is going to rescue the man, because the Earth is about to be destroyed. When evil bureaucratic aliens show up in saucers to destroy the Earth, they explain that it's to make way for an intergalactic travel zone of some kind.
The comedy is about the parallel, on a different scale.
