16 August (Spirit) Liber LXV, 5:9-11

9. But I have burnt within thee as a pure flame without oil. In the midnight I was brighter than the moon; in the daytime I exceeded utterly the sun; in the byways of thy being I flamed, and dispelled the illusion.
10. Therefore thou art wholly pure before Me; therefore thou art My virgin unto eternity.
11. Therefore I love thee with surpassing love; therefore they that despise thee shall adore thee. -

11. Therefore I love thee with surpassing love; therefore they that despise thee shall adore thee. When you practice everyday, watch your emotions and inspect your attitude as regards this practice, looking for that weak place where you are not fully in the game, but still making every effort to understand your motives and desires and bring them into line with your oath—the idea being to get every fiber of your body mind and heart to acquiesce in the one action; you often get glimpses of the possibility, the great joy and power to be had when there is no cajoling and no strong arming, and no insisting against the lesser voices in ones being.
I have always understood the true experience of Samadhi to be more real than what I ordinarily experience as real. I accept this on the grounds of some personal experiences that at the least show me the emptiness of all my pedestrian desires and beliefs, and also on the assertions by those who I deem to know have been familiar with an experience more real than any lesser notion native to the world I was born into.
These two states—the experience of the beloved and the unity of being—are the same in my mind. This inner revelation that is the more real than anything else, and the unity of being that comes when everything participates to the fullest in that one truth—believing or acting in perfect agreement with no rival ambitions and concerns.
The meditation takes up these themes of an inner, truer reality; purity or singleness of purpose; and the authority this alignment imparts.

Nope, but I am unsure why it matters. Except, when we get to September 9th it might provide some minor drama.

This is a comforting set of verses that explain that I am always bare and open before my Angel. All my illusions and “hang ups” are easily dissolved away by the light that grows stronger in the depth of my being. Even those things which seem to be obstacles and the pessimist within will bow before the pure flame that has burnt without oil to be burned up and dispelled. All that remains is our love that surpasses any love that I can conceive of or describe.

I really felt those words!

11. Therefore I love thee with surpassing love; therefore they that despise thee shall adore thee.**I love the nature of this verse -- it seems contradictory -- but the Understanding is beyond language. When the opposites become conjoined and harmonized, all phenomena are examples of this "unsurpassing love".
I find the word "they" and "shall" in "they that despise thee shall adore thee" to be really interesting. It is as if "they" are aspects of phenomena that are to be reconciled in the future ("shall") with the Beauty -- that is, the the "unsurpassing love" of his Angel.

I've known these passages for decades. I've written them into rituals, uttered them in recitations, meditated taking them into me... and, year in and year out, on August 16 when I come around to these verses, they leave me stunned beyond remark.
Few passages of anything have ever seemed, to me, so to articulate the experience of intimacy with the Holy Guardian Angel.
