I am still learning....
-
I joined this site a few days ago, and I come by several times a day, and I feel a little overwhelmed. I see alot of us really are well schooled on what the master therion wrote. Chapter, book and verse. I can't do that. I read and study what I understand. And I will be honest with you I certainly am not able to comprehend what it is he is talking about. But the pieces I do latch unto revolutionize my growth. I am grateful for finding this site and have quickly made it one of my favorites..

We all started out not knowing a single verse

Brother, i completely understand what you are saying. I suggest you start with studying the kabala, tarot, sepher yetzirah and the Golden Dawn.

If it is any consolation to you, I advocate unschooling.
My understanding and beliefs come from a wide selection of resources, and many of them non spiritual, religious, or scientific.
Truth can be found in a childs coloring book, in the veins of a leaf, or a side conversation at the bus stop, and it is the art of intergrating that truth into your belief system, and thus your biology, which is your own creative expression.
We are all, always learning.

I bet you know much more than you realize. Those of us who seek out alternative ways of thinking (such as Thelema) go about it differently than the majority of people. Instead of trying to fit ourselves into a belief system of dogma and rules, we search our hearts and minds and determine what we believe and who we really are - and then we go out looking to see if there is a name for it. I honestly thought I was a freak, and that there was no one on earth who believed what I did. I was afraid to really talk to anyone about it. What made it even more difficult was that what I believed was so stinking logical to me, and it was inconceivable that other people had not figured it out. I first stumbled onto Paganism (for want of a better term) and found my way to Thelema. I'm still evolving. I read all sorts of things and talk to people of all spiritualities in order to hone my own. I have morphed and grown, and feel so good about not stagnating in a dead religion that has nothing to offer me but rules, admonitions, and threats.

We sound so much alike, almost identical. I stumbled into paganism as well looking for the same kind of answers. I started out with wicca and kept searching from there, I knew wicca didn't fit exactly but it was something tangible, I knew I was warm. I had done alot of studying of a few other systems, until I started reading some of Crowleys works and knew that he wad talking to me. Finally seeing a pattern that I had been searching for. And this has been within the last few years I had excitedly found others like myself. It means more to me than anything else. It let's me know I am not alone and I am on the right path for me. I found it interesting because I had been Thelemite long before I ever knew there was a Thelema.
