Thelema as a religion?

My question is when will Thelema catch on as a religion? Ultimately that's what is desired in order for it to survive. So far it appears the CoS is beating Thelema in the race to religious status. Them and there team of lawyers replete with information booths at Tom Cruise movie sets.

Here's a couple of my opinions:
"So far it appears the CoS is beating Thelema in the race to religious status."
Yes, but they are running the wrong way!
"Them and there team of lawyers replete with information booths at Tom Cruise movie sets."
"By their fruits ye shall know them!" and I have to say... Battlefield Earth was the most horrible movie I've ever seen in my life.
"My question is when will Thelema catch on as a religion?"
This is tricky... In my mind, "Thelema" is an expression of truth about the universe. Therefore others choosing to accept it or not makes no difference in its operation. You're going to be intimately involved with it whether you're conscious of it or not. Also, you can choose to use the term "Thelema" for it or not. I'll quote some Crowley: "Every star must calculate its own orbit, to swerve is ultimately impossible. To seek to swerve is to suffer."
Love is the law, love under will.

93,
In many respects Thelema already is a completely valid religion, is it not?
Although when I use the word "religion" I tend to mean large mass control devices manipulating a bunch of uncritical sheep-like followers.
(a matter of definition of course).
IMO religion implies: quantity. many followers.
I'm a fan of quality versus quality.@DeoAdjuvante said

I absolutely second that.

Hi,
Religion is the fast food of spirituality. In my journey through life, I always found that the more people involved in something usually (or always in my experience) the more waterdowned it has become. It has to be to be understood and practiced by so many. IMHO a mystery school can't get beyond a certain size without a loss of it's original teachings. The mysteries were not meant for the masses, they were always meant for an elect.

The law is for all!
Being cognizant of the fact is not a pre-requisite to "success" however you measure it.
So many things one can see the "current" in that have nothing to do with it. Depends on who's looking. We elect ourselves!

Dear Zain,
Do what thou wilt shall be the whole of the Law

Yo,
It was in response to the earlier mentioned "You're going to be intimately involved with it whether you're conscious of it or not." because I at least have noticed strong thelemic "currents" if you will coming from non-thelemic sources including music, some popular entertainment and even some local poets who channel brightly yet are blissfully unaware of the fact.
It's for those with eyes to see, so as opposed to being the "elect" as some have stated, I'd say that we do it ourselves by opening up to the light, as it were.
It's all terribly interesting and what a fun ride, no?
Ciao from tropical sweaty smelly Darwin,

Of course. I propose that if a person believes one has to be initiated into this or that system in order to "become a Thelemite", then that person does not understand the depth of the current.
Everybody is going to be a Thelemite, until the double-wanded settles in the Orient.
