Sex and Meditation
-
The first couple of pages of "Energized Enthusiasm" make some salient points in this regard.
The most concrete thing I can say is... it depends!
Sex can leave one energized, vibrant, filled with exactly the kind of energy needed for a particular kind of work - or it can leave one with any excess of a certain kind of energy already expended. This will vary from person to person, and from event to event.
Also, whether meditation and sex use the same kind of energy depends on the kind of meditation one is undertaking.
-
Not necessarily... You might even want to perform an operation for the express purpose of modifying your feelings/energy. I'm reminded of the great value in spending some time relaxing and centering before beginning any kind of work.

There are no RULES
Only ways people have done things before..."Welcome to the forum. I'm not sure what you dissagree with, the original statement or one of the comments. As for the No Rules thing, I agree, however it is a waste of time to reinvent the wheel. In painting, as an example, I was taught to COPY the masters. Copy strokes, technique, style, method, colors, etc. When you mastered the Rules, then you could break them and develop your own style. If this was not the case, there would be no reason for any esoteric order, or any school at all for that matter!

And shame on you
The whole point of thelema in the end
is to deny what they teach you and know what you know yourself
or at least
pick and choose what is appropriate and whats not.
"You are agreeing with what I said. You said "in the end." I said that one must learn the rules BEFORE breaking them. Learn from others and then at a certain level you can go out and do your own thing. Learning that the earth was not flat could not have been done if someone didn't first learn the basics of science, seamanship, etc. before they went out to make their own discoveries.
I studies martial arts for over a decade. At one training camp we met a guy who said he was there to take a piece of what we taught so he can mix it wth other things and make his own martial art. Everyone thought he was a joke! Why? Because we knew he never took the time to even learn one existing system perfectly and did not know the basics needed to create his own system. Now if someone who mastered one art told us he was going to take what he knows and make his own, we could take him seriously.

I'm of the school of thought
that you SHOULD tell people to avoid sexuality
because only the ones that know they still can
are the ones that would be any good at it anywaythe ones that have restraint and control
the ones that know how to pursue something with passion and perspective
"...and that's exactly what is going on right now. This society is already sexually repressed because we have been told to "avoid sexuality". That is just not healthy. With that school of thought, you are just reinforcing the same structure that is in place.
I see a neurotic response in society with respect to sex.
To heal society you avoid saying avoid sexuality... -

"And shame on you

"or at least pick and choose what is appropriate and whats not."
That's exactly what he was doing, right?

"i think you are missing my whole point.
in the post... it spoken from a place of naivity. A place of UNKNOWING. A place of inward disconnect and a willingness to follow advice if it is supported by others. This mentality leads to Christians and nazis."My friend, here is where you are incorrect. I heard the original posted statement from a "master" in several esoteric systems and I questioned his statements to him personally and then I posed the question to Thelemites I respect for feedback and opinion.
The "mentality" you mention is one where no questions are asked. In this (Nazi) mentality I would have simply taken what he said as truth, instead of questioning, gathering information and making my own decision. The reason I sound defensive is because I don't appreciate being told I have Nazi or even Christian mentality.
I realize that you said that you are "highly advanced" and maybe don't need feedback from others. I, however, know when someone has more knowledge than myself so I seek out that knowledge to help myself grow. It will be a sad time when I stop thinking I can learn from another.
This has gotten entirely off topic though so I will refrain from further discussion on this thread.

"its telling, that is that you've chosen to end this thread, right around the time you managed to get kind of mean and hateful."
It isn't David's posts here that could be taken for either mean or hateful. Yours have verged on both. You seem to have hit the forum already running in attack mode, and it's your personal web site that speaks in terms of hate. (You do have pretty good taste in music, though! <g>)
Please tip the balance the other way a bit, okay? I would appreciate a voluntary backing off the attack mode.
Since the trigger word Nazi has been used, I'm applying the Usenet Ancillary Protocol derived from Godwin's Law and will declare this thread closed, locking it.
