The Abyss and Ego
-
Do I understand it correctly that in crossing the abyss the goal is to give up one's ego and will to the Divine will? There can only be One at this level, no duality, hence one must be destroyed or absorbed, or become part of single collective? If this is the case, my question is this:
Why do many of the exercises of thelemic magick seem to build up the will and ego of the person practicing? Does this not make it more difficult when it is time to surrender it? Or perhaps it makes it a greater sacrifice?

93 Everybody,
If you don't have a strong ego, how can you relinquish it? It would be like trying to thrust a jello body away from you. No matter how you would try, you'd have parts of it still clinging.
The ego must be whole and strong to be able to be grasped and released.
