Aeon of Horus
-
I was just reading the intro in The Book of the Law. It speaks of aeons being 2,000 years each and says the Osirus age started in 500 BC. That would mean it ended in 1500 AD, but it also says that the Horus Aeon started 1904. What does that mean, that 2,000 years is give or take 500 years or that there was a vacuum or period from 1500 to 1904 when no exact Aeon was dominant?

IMNSHO ignore the 2,000 year idea. It was an early confusion of the Aeons with astrological ages.

Yeah, that linear chronology of space-time beginnings and endings would not really explain shifts of consciousness, imo, this happens slowly on the larger level; things tend to overlap each other for long periods of time or we may consider these gaps as 'aborted' births of Horus.

Do what thou wilt shall be the whole of the Law.
Ok, the Aeon of Horus has not fully began. Frater P layed the foundation, and was a prophet of it, but if you go back into Liber AL, it shows(chapter 2, I believe) that there is another prophet, the son of the Prophet in a strange way, that is yet to come. the seed has been planted, but has yet to blossom like it will. Also it is estimated that the Aeon of Osirus began in 1500, but the astrological calendars are not completely right. They are off to some extent or another. And if you study history, you will see that we have already passed through the age of the Mother, and are ENTERING the age of the Son. You begin to understand the discrepancies a little more, the deeper you go in Thelemic texts. I believe it was Allen Grant that realigned the ages, showing that they were off by some years. By that first table, we would be in the Aeon of Isis, rather than Horus. His work on the secrets of Thelema made it much easier to understand. And last, but not least, you must understand that an Aeon does not change just like that. It takes a conversion period, in which the two Aeons wax and wane. -

Huh Where'd that one come from.
The beginning date would at the very least be several thousand years ago.
"realigned the ages"
I wonder if you are making the common mistake of confusing the Aeons with the astrological ages - which aren't really related in any sense I can think of.

the thread i want to start is Aeon related. The gist of Crowley's message was that if you do not work to tune into Thelema in this age/aeon then you are basically "black" and working from outmoded aeonic foundations.
Have i go this right? If (in the aeon you are living in)you are not attuned to the Word of that aeon then you are a failure. Does this mean that if you espoused Thelemic values in the last aeon of Osiris then you were out of touch and failing?. Ergo if in that same ( pre 1904) aeon you were to espouse the way of sin and masochism then you were destined for success because the universe was supporting your intentions? Success however is at odds with sin and msochism. I understand that should we look at Aeonic progression as just that (i.e. progressive painful evolutionary mutation and expansion ) but this concept of being out of tune with the Aeon is not exactly clear.
