Do what thou wilt shall be the whole of the Law.

When one is a member of the A.'.A.'. what exactly (if anything) is to be kept confidential? Crowley says we may speak openly about our membership, and even the principles of the order, but we do keep the identities of our instructors confidential correct (I.e. Frater XYZ etc.)? How about curious eyes and our journals? Do we have particular areas or subjects we are to keep secret? I thought I knew about this, but now not so sure.

    Thank you!

Love is the law, love under will.

There are no formal oaths of secrecy. However, there are things one naturally keeps private. Certainly the names of other members (such as one's Superior) are confidential simply because they're entitled to their privacy. The contents of the initiation rituals are another example - because otherwise you ruin things for others who may one day intend to pass through them.

Don't forget the oath(?) or exhortation:

To Know, To Will, To Dare and to keep Silent

I think that keeping silent is more about not spoiling the surprises for people who are not as far along as you. I've found, in my little experience so far, that there are lots of AHA moments, where its that element of surprise that adds the necessary kick to the insight. If you go around spoiling surprises for everyone, then they don't get that same benefit.

and don't forget as well, the more you talk about something, the more you cover it with words and obscure what it really was. better to keep things unspoken a lot of the time 😉

    93 Christine,

I agree whole heartedly. Thank you, I think Jim sorta hinted at this very point as well.
