the importance of mastering Liber E.
-
i just wanted to start this thread to see what everyone thinks about this. i personally feel that one should work on liber E and get all of it down as well as possible before attempting anything else. of course this is just an opinion. let me also add to that 777 and anything to do with the tree of life and the thoth cards, as well as and most importantly study of the book of the law.
i'm sure this is obvious to all, but perhaps some think differently and can add to this. -
I would generalize it just a bit more and say that Liber E and Liber O are, together, the practical foundations of a self-development plan. Some people will be drawn more to one than the other - both of them work together.
-
i totally agree, Jim.
i just thought that Liber E should be gotten down fairly well before working much with Liber O.
tell me if i am wrong on this, though, because if so i need to start doing more of Liber O.
"Before entering upon any of these practices, the student should be in good health, and have attained a fair mastery of asana, pranayama and dharana"

Not necessarily. If someone is drawn to magick but not so much to yoga, it's likely they'd turn their back on the system if exposed to E, but would embrace O quickly.

there is my problem. i am strongly drawn to magick and not so much to yoga, but i feel like i need to get control of myself better so that i can perform magick better. but you are right, it is a matter for each individual to choose.
i have a good question for u though. now when i take my oath i have a year of work to do, and i know i should do all that i am led to do. the problem is that i feel like it would take a good six months to get any serious attainment just from Liber E!
maybe i am being a perfectionist here. basically my question is this:
before i have made much headway in all of Liber E, is it wise to practice the other things assigned a probationer?
i know i should acquire as much experience as possible so that i can better help any probationer i may be assigned once i reach Neophyte, but i want to make sure that all that i do i do well. -

It would be quite improper to advise a Probationer on this subject. Your discoveries, choices, and consequences are the real substance of the grade.

i understand and wish to revoke the question.
i suppose i just want to go too fast, and my will is to take it slow, no matter what delesions of grandeur i may have.
lol
and i see what you mean. the whole point being a test and a chance for me to explore.
as always, thank you for the right answers at the right time.
Fraternally,
