CHAOS

Aside from their allocations on the TOL, how does CHAOS differ from Choronzon? Choronzon seems like the epitome of chaos to me. Why is it used in a context that seems analogous to Hadit?

Choronzon is sterile - hence associated with deserts. Chaos, on the other hand, "impregnates" Babalon and holds the potential to alter the evolution of the planet.
Crowley probably adapted Chaos from the Greek/Roman systems in which the principle precedes the order-imposing nature of Saturn. So he mapped it onto Chokmah. You get a pretty clear idea of Crowley's concept of gender roles in his mapping. Compare against the Hindu system where Shiva lies prostrate while Kali dances on his body.

Choronzon = chaos in the normal sense, i.e. lack of coherency
Chaos = chaos in the old sense, i.e. Creative-Generative Power

On the contrary, I would suggest Chorozon is the pure semblance of coherence and power. Its ferocious nature and endless discourse arises from the fact it has no center and therefore sterile. Its a commentary on the correct understanding of the role of the Ruach and Daath (and, IMO, the limits of language in conveying truth).
Btw an examination of Azoth provides an alchemical understanding of the Word uttered by the Magus with regard to the creative-generative nature of Chaos.
