Overpopulation & the Thelemic Paradigm
-
Do what thou wilt shall be the whole of the Law,
"Every man and Every woman is a Star";
This thread bears direct relation to the analogy of "True Will" being described as the individual motion and particularly "Orbit"; Nuit is characterized as infinite space, as is evidenced any night one chooses to glance at the sky, there is certainly enough room for celestial bodies such that the motion of each/any is not unduly affected by another. In the mesocosmic (human) paradigm, overpopulation everyday is increasingly becoming a real issue that almost seems unnatural, or at least out of the natural birth/death equilibrium of the planet. Such that in general, and especially in the most affected places individuality in any real sense becomes questionable because of (over)- exposure to others. Such that technically the more time-passes, individual reality is tending exponentially towards some type of symbiosis of consciousness, in other words the more time-passes the Thelemic Paradigm expressed as an "Orbit" is rapidly becoming obsolete, and conceivably the(a) "New Aeon" may not be that far away, if one chooses to express it in those terms. Furthermore "Chaos Theory" has shown that bifurcations in any complex dynamical system are non-periodic, hence the concept of perfect periodicity is also an obsolete paradigm. (the Galaxy/ Cosmos is a complex dynamical system)

Do what thou wilt shall be the whole of the Law.
The earth isn't overpopulated nor ever will be.
Quoted from wiki:
"... global fertility rates have been falling for decades, and the updated United Nations figures project that the world population will reach 9.2 billion around 2050."
Just to start.Look at the shit used in processing our food. Hormones Pesticides etc. Look at the messages on T-shirts in Wal-mart with the SS skull symbols and alchemical nightmare recipes. The economic collapse ..so on and so forth.
As long as mankind stays in the rut of fear mongering and propagandized darkness there can be no liberation.
"Fear is failure, and the forerunner of failure: and courage is the beginning of virtue. " -L.Librae
The Talmud says, "The Son of David (Mashiach) will not arrive until there's no more 'soul' in the 'body.' " This means that there are a certain number of souls in heaven waiting to be born. Until they are born, they wait in a heavenly repository called "the body." The Mashiach won't arrive until every single one of these souls has been born into the physical world.
This teaches that each person is important and has a unique role which only he, with his unique soul, can fulfill. Even a newborn baby brings the Mashiach closer simply by being born.
We are all born to do our True Will.

It would seem to me that Thelema has more to do with the non-clashing of WILLs on the higher planes, and little to do with the clashing or non-clashing of the physical bodies which manifest those WILLs.
For example a Lion is by nature a predator and an antelope is by nature a prey animal. Even though the lion and the antelope phyisically clash, They do not clash WILL, since part of a Lions WILL is violence towards antelopes, and part of the Antelopes WILL, is to flirt with death and be eaten sometimes by lions. The fact that the antelope's does no want to be chased and eaten by lions, is only its ego desires, its TRUE WILL is its purpose designed by nature, not what it FEELs like it wants. If the antelopes have no lions to chase them, they will get fat and sickly as a species, with the weaker ones not killed off. If the Lion avoids its TRUE WILL to hunt, it will grow sick and may starve.
The Violence between lions and Antelopes is not a clash of WILLs but rather the mutual fulfillment of WILL.

This was the expected response; however the gross affects the subtle as likewise the subtle affects the gross, hence a mind is affected by it's environment. and if by higher plane you are not referring to the subtle, then where is this higher plane? aside from your imagination that is.

this is an example of natural birth/death equilibrium, which Man is no longer a part due largely to industrialization and use/misuse of technology, which is my point exactly.

Just to start."well we are round about the 7 billion mark now so that's an increase! when do they project it will start to drop? it is irrational to assume that a finite space, doesn't have space limitations. {realizing that the Earth is a finite space was probably a major paradigm shift for the ancients}

I agree. but fear mongering must be distinguished from considering physical facts.
"The Talmud says, "The Son of David (Mashiach) will not arrive until there's no more 'soul' in the 'body.' " This means that there are a certain number of souls in heaven waiting to be born. With all due respect the Talmud is an even more obsolete paradigm than "Thelema" and personally bears little to no relevance to me.
Love under Will.

it is natural that a bird should build a nest, than a beaver build its damn and a spider build a web.
It is only natural that men should build cites and cars and weapons which inflict mass death and destruction. Thermo-nuclear holocaust may well be as natural to man, as the butting of heads in to goats. Pedophile rapist murderers as natural as that some hamsters kill and eat their own young. The street gang as natural as the rival pacts of wolves.
The WILL is an aspect of nature, which is always in homeostatic equilibrium and aesthetically holds great awe and mystery, however nature is also cruel. (Existence is the practical joke of the general at the expense of the particular) Is that serious or humorous, does it matter? Nature is also indifferent to if you laugh or cry.

The emphasis here is the particular adequacy of the "Orbit" paradigm and not necessarily Thelema itself. I do not believe the word "Orbit" is found in Liber L/AL, but rather is part of AC's personal extrapolations. The whole purpose of a new paradigm is to make the process of conceptualization current and relevant to ever changing specifics, one paradigm is not necessarily better than another, some just seem to better fits at times. AC himself said the difference between Thelema and other Mystic paths like Buddhism, was the difference between a "Static' and "Dynamic" paradigm which obviously was more satisfying to his particular palate, yet ultimately are tantamount to the same thing.

Its not so much over-population as the degeneration of Tradition that creates a deviation from natural orbits, which is to say the natural Caste system.
Taoism says, when the Tao is lost, virtues appear, when virtues fail rituals appear, when rituals fail laws appear and with laws come corrupted administers of the laws.
Traditions was forged by Kings who by direct contact with the Transcendent (TAO) provided the example for those who served under him in descending caste system. Each step away from the King mean was ruled by appeal to virtue, piety, honor, ritual custom, and finally Laws imposed by force. These relate to castes of nobles, priests, warriors, the common citizen and finally slaves. Each has their own orbit as each orbit is discerned in relation to the Kings expression of the Transcendent.
When Modern notions of Equality and liberalism devalue the kings and the king is overturned by the common, the master is replaced by the slave morality. The Caste system then is ruined and degrades, as each lower caste system of values in turn replaces the King, and the lower caste in power, the less clear each natural Orbit.

"well we are round about the 7 billion mark now so that's an increase! when do they project it will start to drop? it is irrational to assume that a finite space, doesn't have space limitations."
Space is infinite or at least large enough. Thinking that the population is "over" some speculated proper amount is really just a matter of personal opinion therefore it errs.
"I agree. but fear mongering must be distinguished from considering physical facts."
Perspective.
"With all due respect the Talmud is an even more obsolete paradigm than "Thelema" and personally bears little to no relevance to me. "
Simply that everybody born on this planet is Born to the path of their True Will. Examples can be found in any holy book.

I would say you have a theory here, you seem to be pretty consistent in your views at least.

Planet Earth is not Infinite but has finite Land and Even Water , unless we invent inter-stellar travel, at some point eventually over-population is a real danger, barring unforeseen catastrophes. The problem is evident even now, it is just a subject that people don't like to discuss, like the willful ignorance of one's physical Death. Denial is a favorite vice of homo-sapiens on this Planet.
