Curious, Enochian?
-
Ok, i've been reading the forums and seeing where different languages play a big role in Thelema. Hebrew, Greek, Enochian. Though, Hebrew and Greek are hard to comprehend, but I've learned some Enochian over the years, and it is my understanding that Enochian was the language of the Nephilim? That's what I've believed over the years.
Now, my question is: "Is there a proper Enochian dictionary I can find somewhere? Because the only Enochian I've learned a bit of(which is probably fake within itself) was what lavey put in his books(which i have thrown away years ago), and some crappy enochian dictionary i found online.
Personally I rather like Enochian, there's something about it I can comprehend and read better than Hebrew or Greek.
So, if anyone has access to an Enochian dictionary that wouldn't mind sharing that info with me, I'd really appreciate it.
Is Enochian something I definately need while studying Thelema? or do I really have to pay attention and try to understand Hebrew or greek? are those two languages also important? any help would be appreciated. thanks -

That's too limited. It is broadly called the Angelic Language, though. This appears to have come from John Dee's original goal, that he wanted to converse directly with angels as had the prophet Enoch.

Sure. Donald Laycock wrote one decades ago. It's quite a good reference and remains in print:

No. "Definitely need" is way to strong. Everyone getting into magical and mystical Thelemic studies should have a basic familiarity, though, just to understand what they will encounter in some of Crowley's writings.
"or do I really have to pay attention and try to understand Hebrew or greek?"
Hebrew is the foundation of most prevailing mystery systems. It is, in any case, the foundation of Qabalah, which is the organizing principle of everything in Crowley's writings (since it was the organizing principle he chose for the whole of his thought-structure). Learning to recognize and write the Hebrew alphabet, and learn its core attributions is still pretty close to Task No. 1; and nobody gets out of the A.'.A.'. 1=10 grade without that specific information (examination in Liber O).
You may, of course, choose to ignore it and strike your own path.
Greek is a nice add-in, and you should at least be functional in its alphabet and the use of a lexicon - again, just so you can understand things you will encounter in Crowley's writings. It also wouldn't hurt to have a working knowledge of Latin, since you will encounter a fair bit of it.
