"Truth sense"
-
Jim, this is mainly to you (though, as usual, I'll gladly take anyone's thoughts on the matter if they wish to chime in). I read your post in another thread where you discussed the ability to directly discern truth without using intellect, emotion, or physical senses (I assume this is the Neshamah in action?).
Anyway, I'll quote you directly so we have the source material on the same thread as the question:
One of the true "super powers" that comes with actual initiation (actual progress in The Path) is the power to directly know what is so independent of any evidence coming through the physical senses,, intellect, or emotion.
This doesn't require vast and gigantic progress, btw - it starts to appear in most people by the time they are deeply into A.'.A.'. 1=10 - that is, the "power" to have a direct answer in response to a question, essentially as soon as the question is correctly formulated. The biggest impediment at that stage is when emotion intervenes, and that is handily addressed in the next couple of degrees. "Truth sense" (O ye fans of Dune) is a genuine "power" that develops early and grows step-by-step roughly in step with the deepening of one's connection to the HGA.
It is possible to simply know something without having learned it from anyplace - not just philosophical or relative truths, but concrete physical truth.
Honestly, not letting my ego get in the way: This seems to describe a sense that I've had most of my life, which I only learned how to understand and properly use recently. (It really drove me mad some years ago, when I alternated between thinking I was really smart and thinking I was fucking nuts!) It seems to behave in the way that you stated, which is answering the question almost as soon as the question is completely formed, and also seems to ebb and flow in harmony with my level of contact with what I believe is my HGA, which you also stated.
My actual question: I have had difficulty handling this type of experience (or impostor experiences) in the past (read as: from about 6 years ago until now, ages 14 to 20), due to information overload and intense conflict between my perceptions and my current thoughts about the universe (these past thoughts/assumptions about the universe have been RADICALLY different from what they are now, and I see them as being extremely inaccurate from my current vantage point, FWIW). Is this type of skill something one would, at a lower level of skill (such as where I am), restrict to specific times and not "leave turned on" during everyday life? In other words, is it unrealistic and undesirable to try to "tune in" to this ability except in specific situations, such as meditation, prayer, divination, etc (or when the HGA contacts you instead of the reverse)? I tend to "get impressions" about nearly everything, and it's caused me a lot of issues in that leaving it unrepressed overloaded me, and repressing it divided me against myself. Sorry this is rambling, I guess I'm just kind of asking for your thoughts. Feel free to tell me I'm totally off-base (or off my rocker) if that's what you think.
I am currently taking the initiative to fix all these unresolved problems in myself to give myself a firm ground to stand on.
FWIW, my own attempt at an answer to my question: I feel like, ultimately, the parts of my personality that take issue with direct perception like this will be destroyed and re-integrated eventually, so the question won't really matter much at some later date. Also, it's in my nature to rush things, so I'm probably thirstily "seeking" this kind of perception from some corner of my psyche, which is causing it to overload me; again, a problem that wouldn't really be a problem after I'm done sorting my psyche out.
As usual, to everyone who replies, thank you for your thoughts, and 93s.

The long-term way way to handle info overload is to continue in genuine initiation, which handles this problem in diverse ways.
The way to handle the second part is not to let your current thoughts about a thing get in the way if they're wrong.
Of course, you already knew both of those things.

I've never really seen it as a problem. I'm wondering, though, if we are talking about two different things. You speak of getting impressions about more or less everything. This Truth Sense of which I wrote isn't impressions. Impressions are simply more data. Truth Sense gives a confirmation of what is so independent of data. It isn't the same as a "psychic hit." Yes, that sort of thing requires your being able to turn it on and off at will.
Also, this isn't a power to be sought. That would be a mistake. It comes on its own while you are developing yourself, not while you're trying to develop this power.
