32. Further Adonai spake unto V.V.V.V.V. and said:
33. Let us take our delight in the multitude of men!
Let us shape unto ourselves a boat of mother-of-pearl from them, that we may ride upon the river of Amrit! My efforts to constantly reduce the possible meanings to a simple relationship of 'I and Thou' fails, and the mind intrudes, full of associations and pseudo-profundities.
Amrit, the nectar of the immortality. It also figures prominently as a concept in the Sikh baptismal rite. The culmination of this rite involves the assumption of honorific titles: the women add kaur, or princess to their names, and the men add singh, or lion. The Lion, the great wild beast—The Master Therion!
Comparable to the Dalai Lama, the Master Therion is a Thelemic equivalent—the enlightened master who incarnates over and over, immortal and free.
In oriental cultures mother-of-pearl is an amulet denoting good fortune, attracting wealth. This correlates with Leo, and solar energies and influences in general—Major Fortuna! Similarly, the boat is the boat of RA, the lord of life and light.
All this creates envy and attachment aimed at those who seemingly have so much—unlimited financial means to realize ones fantasies...
And I realize that this attachment is proof of my being at the mercy of my fate, and not its master as indicated in the passage above. It's not a simple problem anymore. It's a complicated mess—a thirst that is made worse by pretending one is not thirsty for... amrit.

I think this is somewhat confusing me. A pearl is usually considered the best, as in “don’t cast your pearls before swine”. The Mother of pearls is considered the best of the best pearls. The confusion lies in the fact that he says a “multitude of men”. He does not say the best of the multitude of men or the best multitude of men. He just says “a multitude of men”. Then he says to make a “boat of mother-of-pearl from them” or he is saying to make the best of the best boat from them. This is much like saying go out and gather some sticks and we will make the best of the best boat with the sticks, but not saying what type of sticks to get.
