mystical/astral experience

When I was a child I was abused. As a result, at 8, I was in therapy ordered by the courts. I would have a hard time sleeping. Night terrors where I would wake up, standing, screaming my lungs out.
Anyway, my psychologist taught me how to do self-hypnosis to retrain my mind so that I would be happier and more at peace. It was a real simple exercise. I would lay in the corpse position and tighten and relax all my muscles. Then I would silently count backward from 10-0...slowing my breathing down as I counted. Then I would start back at 10. Everytime i woulds slow my breathing(I can remember several times when I would stop breathing but it wouldnt feel like it.) . Then I would imagine myself gently falling backward. I still do this today as a way to lucid dream.
So I was in 3rd grade. It was Feb of 1980. There was a blizzard so the whole family was stuck living in one room. We heated by wood and this was the only way to keep warm.School was canceled.
I laid down in the afternoon for "nap" time. Since I wasnt tired I decided to do some self-hypnosis. I was falling backward in darkness when suddenly I was in my usual upstairs bedroom laying on the bed in the same position I started with(at the time the upstairs was closed off with plastic.)
I want to stop for a second and describe the "plane" I was on. This may not be a tech term, but I call this plane the "lower astral". It has all the "laws" of science that govern the astral where archtypes are located but what you see is the mundane world. I hope this makes sense.
Anyway, I was laying in the corpse position on this bed and a large tome was open floating in front of me directly over my solar plexus. The cover was a dull grey giving the impression it was very ancient. The pages had miniture, perfectly formed gold hebrew letters arranged in sentences. It was as if the letters had formed and then merged with the paper.
I was completely paralized so I focused my mind on the page and tried to turn it. As soon as the page flipped I went flying into a closet door at the foot of my bed.The shock of moving so fast and smaking the closet door snapped me out of the vision.
This experience has been with me since. I have put a lot of thought into what this means. But I still dont really understand it. Any thoughts would help.
Some added info:
At the time I did not know what hebrew was and had never even seen it.
At this moment,31 years later, I find myself typing this in the same room I saw the book in.There is no law beyond Do what thou wilt.

Its funny, cause years later when I was in college, I studied the morman scriptures. I remember reading the story of John Smith and the tablets of gold. For some odd reason I thought of the above vision....now I dont really think so.
There is no law beyond Do what thou wilt.
