**7. Be not contented with the image.
    8. I who am the Image of an Image say this.
    9. Debate not of the image, saying Beyond! Beyond!
One mounteth unto the Crown by the moon and by the Sun, and by the arrow, and by the Foundation, and by the dark home of the stars from the black earth.
    10. Not otherwise may ye reach unto the Smooth Point.

All paths lead to the same source. My life and every component is the palette of the Artist’s choosing. I hope I make a decent painting - but, even then one must give up this masterpiece for what is beyond it. Even until the End.

A reference to Kether and the method of its attainment. Sensory impressions are merely ***representations ***of the one thing, but they are not that thing. Therefore they are to be regarded as such, representations (images).

    P.S. & BTW You're welcome Jim 🆒

    7. Be not contented with the image.
    This a caution against literalism.

    8. I who am the Image of an Image say this.
Atziluth is the non-image truth behind all images purporting to represent truth; Briah is the creative act of conceptualizing this truth, the first image; Yetzirah is the image proper, the image of the image—this would be the actual shape the truth takes in the mind of the artist. There is a further development in the finished painting, or the interpretation of the actor, or when someone recites a poem, or in the physical gesture of a ritual.

    9. Debate not of the image, saying Beyond! Beyond!
One mounteth unto the Crown by the moon and by the Sun, and by the arrow, and by the Foundation, and by the dark home of the stars from the black earth.

Compare those religions that forbid images—Islam and some christian, protestant sects. Images, though false, are useful, forming a ladder of ever more refined and elevated concepts until they ultimately transcend themselves. This passage also traces the middle pillar.

    10. Not otherwise may ye reach unto the Smooth Point.
Kether. Points are not smooth—it's poetry, metaphor. Similar expressions of the inexpressible would be the bright darkness, etc... And this is how an image can transcend itself and be a stepping stone to the ultimate identity.

Edit: you cam also get there with Cheap Viagra (see spam post in this folder)

VVVVV is using rock-climbing imagery. I visualize a man ascending the sky using the crevices and outcrops mentioned in verse 9, then reacing a resting-point, a large flat *horizontal *smooth area.

However, to a rock-climber a smooth **vertical **area is a bit of a disaster - nothing to hold on to!

When you realize that he is the image behind the image, which is an image that cannot be described, you have discovered that you really have nothing to hold onto. That is why religions and beliefs create images even if they are in the mind; they are images for you to hold onto or possible links to the divine unknown.
