The Strong Brown Reaper
-
@Liber LXV ; Ch 1 v 56 said
And Adonai said: The strong brown reaper swept his swathe and rejoiced. The wise man counted his muscles, and pondered, and understood not, and was sad.
Reap thou, and rejoice!Who is this "strong brown reaper"?
This line has all ways had great significance to me.
I spent many a year inert from the weight of my pondering.
Most especially, : "Reap thou, and rejoice!"
It has become my battle cry, my invocation of Hadit when my shoulders bend too far forward.
Could this brown reaper be Hadit, clothed in brown earth?If I get back to reaping, I am sure it will come to me...

Personally, I associate the Reaper with Key 13, Death, which symbolizes transition.
And also this:
"34. Thou seest yon petal of amaranth, blown by the wind from the low sweet brows of Hathor?
- (The Magister saw it and rejoiced in the beauty of it.) Listen!
- (From a certain world came an infinite wail.)
That falling petal seemed to the little ones a wave to engulph their continent. - So they will reproach thy servant, saying: Who hath set thee to save us?
- He will be sore distressed.
- All they understand not that thou and I are fashioning a boat of mother-of-pearl. We will sail down the river of Amrit even to the yew-groves of Yama, where we may rejoice exceedingly."
The strong brown reaper is the version of you that acts to change. He is contrasted with the wise man version of your who refrains from acting to change. In both cases, change is considered tragedy. One brings death to the current form. The other maintains the current form. My take anyway.
