Chapter LXXV: The A∴A∴ and the Planet

"An analogy. We have the secret of the Elixir of Life, and could carry on in the same body indefinitely; yet at least some masters prefer to reincarnate in the regular way, only taking care to waste no time in Amennti, but to get back to the Old Bench and pick up the New Tools with the minimum of delay."

Am I to understand the A.'.A.'. claims to have the actual elixir of life, not merely the notion of retaining consciousness after we shed the mortal coil?

That is what he was saying, yes.

I have made this in crude form myself.

I don't have any intention of using it for that exact purpose, but it's at least somewhat worth mentioning that, as a 58-year-old non-athlete who never exercises (outside of normal life activites), I have the heart and lungs of an Olympic swimmer and am high-functioning on about 4 hours of sleep per night. 😀 🆒

Is this a secret held by the modern A.'.A.'. and disclosed at some point in the training? I'd always wondered about that reference myself, but had assumed that he was talking about something relating to the 9th Degree in O.T.O.

Is it actually a secret? I may be wrong as I have not read the book but isn't Crowleys "Amrita" about the 'secret elixir'?

As for the 9th degree of the OTO I think I read in Peter Grey's "Red Goddess" that it was simply masturbation (used within sex magick). Again I could aslo be wrong about that due to my terrible memory lol

I thought Crowley published everything he knew and if he didn't I can honestly say I'm happy with the vast amount of instructions he did publish. But please correct me if I'm wrong....

There are some key things he didn't publish. I'm not saying they're unavailable, but I am saying that he didn't publish them and explained that it was a matter of honor - his pledge.

    As I view it:

One might perceive the cruder forms along the lines of the 'miraculous powers' of Yoga.
With their combined solution bringing about The Elixir.
    Which, invariably something of a trap;
    Do-We-Not seeks liberation?
    Do-We-Not seeks return?

    Imbibing The Elixir:
"HAHA! I am liberated from Gravity!"
And so never does HE go beyond the clouds
"HAHA! I am liberated from Death!"
And so never does HE ever live
"HAHA! I am liberated from Pain!"
And so ends all HIS pleasure

For the Yogi who seeks to be God
Has ceased to be a Yogi
A Yogi is greater than God
God hath made the Work possible
It is the Yogi that bears the burden
And in HIS stillness causes the Wheels
    To Spin
