There is no inherent conflict with the Temple of Thelema and O.T.O. passages. They are almost wholly unrelated in any sense, and conflict only if they conflict in a particular person's life.

When we were starting Temple of Thelema 25 years ago, the one question in our minds in this regard was whether the chakra sequences (employed by each, though differently) were in conflict. We took a good long look and decided they were not.

As for F.L.O. ... inherently I'd give the same answer. However... what part of the world are we talking about? In some parts of the world, their hold to an esoteric Christian legacy is more tightly gripped. While the Steward of F.L.O. understands these things deeply and sees through any appearance of conflict, the same may not be true in all regions. And - on the other side of the coin - in some regions, O.T.O. local tone is more rabidly against anything hinting of Christian symbolism. Therefore, someone trying to make their way through the two systems could find some unusual conflict that they have to deal with.

But... inherently... there is no conflict.

"The F.L.O member that told me about the systems conflicting lives in the U.K. But he said he was told that he had to leave the O.T.O when he became a member in the Hall of Probationers"

This, then, would be a (possibly only local) O.T.O. rule. Therefore, it is administrative and possibly political, rather than based on the kinds of issues I was addressing before.

The conflict, then, would be institutional.

"It was F.L.O that said he had to leave the O.T.O when he became a Probationer, not the other way around (sorry I wasn't clear). The reason for telling him to leave the O.T.O was because the Director of Probationers told him the systems weren't compatable."

    Oh, OK. Misunderstood.

Still... same answer, right? (And BTW that's probably local interpretation. I was O.T.O. lodge master and Deputy Grand Master when I took the F.L.O. Probationer course, and it wasn't a secret.)

With respect to what they DO accomplish, they don't come close to the BOTA courses. (They couldn't. You can't slow-ripen someone 5 years worth in 12 months.)

They serve one purpose: They ensure that one has the right preliminaries to effectively take initiation in F.L.O. (all other things being right, of course).
