Water. The essential element of life on this little blue sphere, is found in almost all things. Our physical bodies are mostly comprised of water, and even a small amount of dehydration our functionality decreases drastically.

Water is the ultimate spiritual medium. In many traditions around the world water is used to refresh and cleanse the temple and the body. For the alchemist it is essence of life holding the spiritual keys of power. Water has no properties of it's own but takes on the properties of what is influencing it.

Before a Misa, wherein the spirits of the deceased as well as spirits from other realms come to possess their horses, glass of cool clear water are placed on the altar and a large bowl of water with flowers and perfume is placed on the floor. As the spirits begin to "pass through" the water will begin to accumulate tiny bubbles and sometimes become cloudy in a matter of minutes. Water is considered the key element that permits the spirits to manifest themselves.

When people come to the houngan seeking to be cleansed or seeking to have magic done to aide their situation, they are bathed in the juices of various plants and often time water from various sources. Rainwater, river water, sea water, pond water, and the water collected from a waterfall are all thought to carry their own specific properties and characteristics. The various Goddesses in Voodoo commonly referred to as Erzulie, have dominion over various sources of water. Some of the songs to petition the Goddesses to come and bless the rights of the priests and priestesses call for the Goddess to bring water to the house. To say that one's house is dry, is to say that the soil has dried up and the petitioner is imploring the Goddess to refresh the soil so that wealth can return.

This concept is often over looked in many of the temples of ceremonial magicians. The high altar should have a cool glass of water allowing for a more clear manifestation of the light. Is not our Lady and Queen the dark and mysteries waters of Binah?

If you feel that your magic is dry or your meditations are difficult try keeping a glass of water with a candle near you on a white plate or cloth. The white is the purity of and clarity of Kether, the candle is the fire of Chokmah, and the water is infinite depths of Binah.

    "Erzulie is at the gates"
"Erzulie bring water to my house"

What a beautiful post, and picture! What a beautiful reminder to us all. I have four planets in Scorpio, and spend all my free time in creeks, ponds, lakes and pools. I'm a water baby.

I wrote a poem a few years ago about Niagra Falls.
Maybe you will enjoy it, I already shared it here on the list....

Any man who brings such beauty out into the world,
      Truly
Can't be such a dangerous man.....

Niagara falls is for lovers and travelers they say
Even though for me it it is hop skip and jump away
And year after year I trek to it's shore
Finding solace and peace in it's rhythmic roar

Lucky I am to have such a wonder so near
Lucky I am to hold something simple so dear
For it's water is such of a magical sort
That millions are drawn here to find a port

As I walk through the hordes on a regular day
A minority I am,  for the locals don't play
      Europeans, Arabs,  Asians a mobbing
Enough to keep the locals pockets a throbbing

Yet Ever since I was permitted to go
I come to see this natural show
Of elements converging and dancing for me
At least that I how it always looks to me

The others it seems take quite a different view
And I don't know how it would feel to you
To experience the awe, the power the flow
Let me bring you, and then I will know

For it seems  that the others are quite content
To interpret this majesty as a festival event
And clicking the cameras, buying the wares
They don't seem to intake the waters true air

Im not sure Maybe it is the Scorpio in me
That feels drawn to this place with such intensity
I can sit for hours watching the flow
Each drop of wAter I bless as it goes

Over the rocks drop by drop  over the fall
Down through The air unaware of it all
But the air catches some and transmutes them you see
Into a fine mist that maids ride out to sea

Niagara falls is for lovers and travelers,  I know
And that is why I make it a point to see Her show
For I love this land and it's waters are dear
Even though I may wander I always stay near

I love to point out to the people who come
Little tidbits of lore that I keep in my thumb
About beloved Tesla, and the electric shop
That helped the world,  right from that spot

The goats that once lived on the island all died
I told to a little girl and she almost cried
That was long ago,  theyd be gone anyway
All the daredevils and freaks wouldve scared them away

When I crossed the bridge, crossed the river so fast
      I saw a little spider weaving a web I knew wouldn't last
But the more that I watched, and the minutes went by
The more spiders and spiders I saw with my eye

The bridge was in layers if you could say that
And the spiders were decked in-between all the slats
The littlest ones were so small like a dot
Weaving a web closest to the front, almost not

Behind them into the layer number two
The bigger  spiders were weaving web too
The little ones sure to keep away or they be
Dinner for the larger one, or just a snack maybe

Yet behind all of these little and bigger orbs
If you focused you eye you'd look through a door
And there across the river as grand as could be
Granddaddy spiders in layer number three

The delicate weaving of these great Eight legged friends
Seemed a miracle for the Niagara never stop never ends
It roars and and tears and fills the air with mist
And the webs are constantly destroyed by this

Yet there they were,  and time could tell
A hierarchy exists in the spider world as well
As I stopped on the bridge at each point or junctures
There was this clan, this family of monsters

Hundreds of Thousands of spiders live in this place
And to see the orbs that they build in this space
Against the mighty roar and horror of the falls
Silently filled my soul with awe

So while sometimes I go to see the pretty lights
And sometimes to feel the waters raw might
Now I have another reason to visit this place
For I love spiders,  when they are not in my living space

The picture is an artistic interpretation of Yemaya. In Vodou she is often called La Siren.

Scorpio women are something to behold, all that water... I believe they are the reason for the idea: "The wrath of a woman scorned." lol

        Lions are beautiful creatures. 👿

I certainly did enjoy it, thank you for sharing!
