Five of Wands
STRIFEMeditation Pattern: Place Atu XXI, The Universe, and Atu XI, Lust, side-by-side, with the 5 of Wands above them.
Traditional Description: Five wands or torches. One is upright in the middle; the others cross each other in two pairs. Flames leap from the point of junction. Above the middle wand is the sign of Saturn, and below is that of Leo, thus representing the decanate.
Geburah of Fire: Quarreling, fighting, competition, violence, disturbance. Boldness, rashness, lust, desire, prodigality. Sudden and violent outburst of energy. Volcanic energy. A wholly active force.
Saturn/Leo: Condescension and cruelty, or patronage and generosity – depending on whether the card is well or ill-dignified – yet in any case with domination and arrogance of station.
Mars + Saturn: Struggle, strife, violent or destructive expression of energy; hardness, endurance, obstinacy, self-interest. Injury, pain, conflict.

- wow! I’m astonished by the similarity between ATU XI and ATU XXI that I haven’t seen before; as if both of them represent the same identical “principle”, but expressed differently according to the difference of their position on the Tree! One is the “border” of Ruach and connects polarities of the Tree horizontally (particularly, connects the two Sephirot in the middle on the two side Pillars), the other is Nephesh’s upright vertical connection to Ruach, or the direct channel into Material World for all other Worlds (a cosmic Vagina that receives the seed and gives birth)
- 5 of Wands:
sovereign power, lordship, rulership; firmness, sturdiness, inexorability, adamantine, iron-strength (or steel) of the will. - The central Wand looks like erected Phallus, I’m aroused by looking at it, and the color of the card reinforces it with refinement…. this is the gold hidden in all other metals…
- Tau and Teth, 9 and 400… lead becomes gold… Alchemical sacred secret applied in practice…
- Inexhaustible creative force, that meets barriers and obstacles not as factors that extinguish it, but that incite it, as an inspiration for it to blaze and be even more vehement!
- Work/action/deed not in order to reach some preconceived perfection, but for the sake of the enjoyment in the Work itself – although, this Work definitely has a goal, it’s not aimless but is perfectly directed to some particular Aim; and through it, it reaches Transcendence. … Manifestation of the fruits of this “labour” comes as a by-product; and from this “results” again a new incentive comes – an Impulse arises – and so on, the process continues.
- (Teth & Tau) This creative force in us that is self-surrender in our relationship to the Divine, and manifests as the initiative, male principle, will-force in our relationship to the earth.
- 5 of Wands: self-control, self-discipline, and the process of refinement of own being through this.
- In the Temple of Matter, every phenomena, every grain of dust has its Meaning – its Role, its Function; the dedication described in ATU XI makes one aware of this, the multitude of relationships become conscious; and 5 of Wands describes such Action, deeds in accordance with this awareness.
- Who do you fight against?
What are those obstacles that appear before you to be overcome?
Are not those your own walls, o human, that separate you from Completeness and Wholeness?
Is not your Complete and Total commitment to the Work that which makes you strong and able?
Forth with the Will!
And ask not of consequences – “If Will stops and cries Why, invoking Because, then Will stops & does nough. If Power asks why, then is Power weakness.”
Forth with the Will, giving up yourself as a hollow duct for this Flow that comes from the Highest!
Let every cell of your being be as a warrior in a disciplined and powerful army. -

Day one:
There's a sense of energy being checked, of wanting to expand yet being confined and constrained, clashing, suppression. If well dignified, energy being carefully channeled & directed to fulfill on an intended outcome, course correction after repeated error & frustration, barriers to free self-expression, curbed, curtailed and curfewed, petty fights, being a free spirit and having the experience of being trapped or burdened by one's obligations, internal strife, relationship problems, keeping one's lower nature in check, conflict leading to growth.Day two:
Scrappiness, gang banger mentality - "fuck your set, fuck the other side", competitive spirit, rebellion, cock-blocking, speaking one's mind and stirring up the pot, not backing down from a fight, arguments, breakdowns, being the asshole of the group, everyday struggle, chutzpah, ball breaking, hating on another person, uphill battles, school of hard knocks, knocking another person's hustle, confronting circumstances, growing pains, squelched self-expression, curbed self-expressionDay three:
Tightened discipline, disharmony, perceived loss of freedom & the resentment that perception brings, healthy competition, constructive feedback, restriction on something that once had freedom, expanding beyond one's current capacity, tough period -
