May 1-3, 2014: Three of Cups
-
ABUNDANCE
Three of CupsMeditation Pattern: Place Atu I, The Magus, and Atu VII, The Chariot, side-by-side, with the 3 of Cups above them.
Traditional Description: A group of lotuses or water lilies, from which two flowers rise on either side of, and overhanging, the top cup, pouring into it the white water. Lotuses in the same way pour white water into the lower cups. The three cups are arranged in an erect equilateral triangle. All three cups overflow; the topmost into the two others, and these upon the lower part of the card. Symbols Mercury and Cancer above and below.
Binah of Water: The fulfillment of the Will-to-Love in abounding joy. Love brought to happy fruition. Fulfillment, pleasure, sensuality, abundance; gladness, hospitality, eating and drinking, pleasure, dancing, new clothes, merriment. The spiritual basis of fertility.
Mercury/Cancer: Abundance, plenty, success, passive success; keen perception, memory; good luck and fortune; love, kindness, liberality.
Saturn + Mercury: (This combination is not so revealing as for most of these symbols. Its usual meanings are quite different from the clear meaning of this card, mostly because we are here dealing with Supernal Saturn at her best. But Mercury-Saturn does contribute profound thought, common sense, and a clear state of mind. Amidst the sense of abundance, there remains a practical element.)

- Pomegranates catch my attention the most; associations: Persephone; inexhaustible well, 2+1 which is the Fruit of love.
- The eight lotuses give a hint to this card’s connection to Hod, and to Mercury in general.
- Magus + Chariot: the Word becomes the flesh (body), i.e. blood; a Child = perfect polarity, both sexes are here in the Potential, the very motion of it defines which of them will become manifested (the “specialization” of child’s faculties), but here it can be molded according to Will!
- The Speech of Intuition. Abundance, Bounty: all the resources needed are here!
- Freedom and Play: this is how every structure is created, how the World comes to be (Multiverses arise); and every one of the innumerable Worlds bears in itself – like its blood, its DNA – the signet of its essential Idea (the Will of its Creator) ---- it is itself that Will, but “extended”/spread out.
- Abundance of all resources is available for the Child-Playing (Magus); this is the Truth: all you need is right here, at the reach of your hand; the Water-of-Binah is the Key that opens that.
- Logos as the Blood (genetic material).
- In Chokmah there are male-seeds, which search for the uterus, in Binah there are embryos – early fruits, just formed, but everyone of them such that it has enormous stability and resistance to change; Elasticity & adaptability – the key to its survival and development.
- Nurturing of something that has just been born.
- NB: In Magus card, the Elements are depicted as tools/things, in the Chariot as animals!
- Abundance: both giving and receiving, mutually balanced. Freedom: to choose, out of the Bounty of existing Energies in/of Nuit, that which the Will=Need demands in order for some particular thing to be formed. This card represents the Mother-principle which nurtures that one chosen form, until it gains enough stability to go further by its own natural laws.
- The “magical fluid” which when ingested there comes a Transformation (again, analogy of pomegranates); Alice in Wonderland, Neo in Matrix… the “pill of Truth” with “Truth” here meaning not as an intellectual, rational phenomena, but the intuitive direct knowledge, gnosis, seeing the inter-relations of all things.

Day one:
Pollyanna, high emotional intelligence, heightened intuition, being in tune with one's surroundings, subtle communication, high spirits, lightnessDay two:
Joy from within flowing outward, the joy of serving, aliveness, joie de vivre, over sentimentality, inner serenity, self-less-ness, taking care of others, being taken care of by someone elseDay three:
Ecstasy, deep fulfillment from being of service to others, contribution, celebration, overeating, being merry, indulging in food and drink, alacrity, all-around good spirits, cheerfulness, over-indulging in the things that make us feel good - for good or bad, uncanny psychic connection, being ruled by one's emotions, giving in to emotional tides, opening up to one's true purpose in life, becoming a vessel for carrying one's divine word.
