    THE ROOT OF
    THE POWERS OF THE EARTH
    Ace of Disks

Meditation Pattern: Place the Ace of Disks between Atu XXI, The Universe, and Atu V, The Hierophant.

Qabalistic Correspondences: The seed or root of elemental Earth. Kether of Earth, or Kether in Assiah.

Traditional Description: A White Radiant Angelic Hand, holding a rose tree branch, whereon is a large Disk formed of five concentric circles. The innermost circle is white, charged with a red Greek cross. From this white center, 12 white rays issue; these terminate at the circumference, making the whole resemble an astrological figure of the heavens. It is surmounted by a small circle, above which is a large white Maltese cross, and with two white wings. Four crosses and two buds are shown. The Hand issues from the clouds as in the other three cases.

Meaning: It represents materiality in all senses, good and evil; and is, therefore, in a sense, illusionary. It shows material gain, power, labor, wealth, contentment, etc.; but matter, it must be remembered, is entirely of the substance of Spirit, and of the Creative Light of the Sun.

    • Blooming of a rose... such Beauty in this card!
    • Richness, resources, bounty of material at disposal; fertility; inexhaustibility of Nature.
    • All the other Elements are here – Earth is their Unity, synthesis, a crystallized fruit-jewel of their union!
    • Torpor, heaviness, structure, the idea of the Four (and its extension as Ten); yet, Ace is like Yod, it’s the primordial Will-impulse in this Element.
    • Success; fulfillment; completion of one cycle of a large process; established reign of one particular Principle (Logos); crystallization.

    • Initial, primordial form that the crystallization of the Word (or Will of Magus) takes.
    • The Cross & the Wedge: there’s idea of the Crucified; Earth – material existence –as transformational “substrate” for the non-physical in our being.
    • The Mystery of Embodiment/Incarnation.
    • Although Earth is defined as Yin in polarity (in its relation to other elements), it is in itself actually as much Yang (Vau shows this) – it’s just a perfected form of self-expression of Logos-Chokmah.
    • Tau+Vau: the Transcendent, which is beyond Time and Form, becomes manifest in a particular time and place; Wisdom manifest in the specific, particular and transient.
    • Earthly existence – all of it! – serves for learning and spiritual growth.

    • True Will, expressed in “body and flesh”; Pantacle; stamp/signet (in all wide & various meanings of it).
    • Completeness, completion, a Deed done, Will fulfilled.
    • A Holy Temple: its invisible essence and root. Altair. The Ark in the Tabernacle.
    • Supreme Beauty of motion in accordance with TW, and the enormous Force of it – it’s the same force that moves the physical stars in the vast Universe – and yet, all of it is so easy, so light, as a feather!
    • In divination:
beginning of a business project, or any project on material plane; impulse that incites fertile activities; huge, enormous power; materialization as a spontaneous consequence of processes on the subtler planes: results, fruits; visible manifestation of the invisible Essence of the Divine; royal dignity that comes out of authentic existence ; the Crown of all which is Earthly (the Sacred aspect of all things mundane); the Spirit of Earth.
