August 31 - Sept.02, 2014: Princess of Cups
-
THE PRINCESS OF THE WATERS;
THE LOTUS OF THE PALACE OF THE FLOODS
The Princess of Cups – Princess & Empress of the Nymphs or Undines
Throne of the Ace of Cups
EARTH of WATERMeditation pattern: Place side-by-side Atus VIII, Adjustment; XIII, Death; and XIV, Art.
Center the Princess of Cups above them. Optionally, place the Ace of Cups above her.Traditional Description: A beautiful Amazon-like figure, softer in nature than the Princess
of Wands. Her attire is similar. She stands on a sea with foaming spray. Away to her right is a
dolphin. She wears, as a crest, a swan with opening wings. She bears in one hand a lotus, and in
the other an open cup from which a turtle issues. Her mantle is lined with swans down, and is of
thin, floating material.HEH-Final of HEH (EARTH of WATER): Heh-the-Daughter in the field of operation of
Heh-the-Mother. She represents the incarnate, individual human soul in relationship to the Higher
Soul and its universal spiritual patterns. How well the card is dignified will reflect the conditions
of this relationship: usually, it implies a harmony between the two, though if ill dignified it
can represent disharmony in their relationship. As Earth of Water, she is the embodiment of the
idea of Water, expressed (for example) as crystallization. Ideas associated with Water are given
solid form. She is nurturing like the Queen, but more especially represents actions of love, the
products of creativity, etc.Similarly, she is the function of action within the World of Briah: e.g., acting in harmony,
acting in response to intuition, etc. She participates in an understanding of the higher lifeprinciples
that the Queen represents. It is then her function to bring these into actuality, whether
by active or inactive means. She is thus a life-artist, lending substance to ideas and ideals. She rules that quadrant of the heavens about the North Ecliptical Pole reaching from 0° Libra to
30° Sagittarius, centered on the Watery Kerubic constellation Scorpio. She is the Throne of the Ace of
Cups. Scorpio (Nvn), as the Kerubic constellation of Water, is the main feature. To it is attributed
the Imaginative Consciousness, which “provides an Image to all created things that have an appearance,
in a form fitting to each.” That is, Scorpio represents the passage of that eternal, living ONE
THING (which persists through all change) through a series of successive forms or adaptations
consistent with its actual nature. This Princess symbolizes those powers of consciousness (including
creative imagination) that provide to an existing Briatic awareness the form and image
by which it appears. Libra (Lamed) refers to karma, i.e., works and acts: specifically, ethical actions, being grounded in Briah. Sagittarius (Samekh) corresponds to the establishment of the healing and illimitable love of Briah within the human soul, and the undertaking of actions in conformity with
that Love, and in service to the even deeper Will-impulse of which it is the primary vehicle. In divination, the character displays sweetness, poetry, gentleness, nurturing, and kindness.
She is imaginative, artistic, reflective, intuitive, dreamy, at times indolent, yet courageous if
roused. Ethical action. Harmony between one’s soul and the universal spiritual patterns of the
Higher Soul. If ill-dignified she is selfish and luxurious. Disharmony between one’s soul and the
Higher Soul. -
- Lotus; Swan; Turtle; Shell; Fish: each may be taken as a particular symbol for meditation. Sacred creatures of Water in Assiah.
- She represents suppleness, adaptability, seductive femininity; fertility; expression of emotions; manifestation of Love under Will.
- Creative Imagination: its raw power, connected with the power of wish and affection, and with the emotional nature overall.
- The Muse. Perfectly-harmonious openness for Inspiration.
- She is what she loves!
- The call of the distant and the unknown… appeal to the conscious ego/mind for that which comes from Intuition to be manifested into the physical matter.
- Heh in Assiah: giving birth physically (my personal experience of this, and that of some of my female friends, corresponds precisely with ATU XIII).
- A particular action and manifestation of the principle of non-ego; separation from the state of separation/isolation; death for the “I” and birth into “We” which is Greater, much more Vast…
- Abundance; gifts; giving as principle of interaction with the environment.
- Beginning of a deeply emotional relationship, or of a lasting project which includes intense emotional participation; intuitive accordance with own current transformative process, which is catalyzed (this process) by particular circumstances/events and intimate relationships with other people.
- Expressing love through action; confidence; adherence, devotion, affection; care, gentleness, protection; authentic dedication.
- She transforms the Night into the Light. Both are sacred, both are crucial to Life, she knows it and acts with great care, keeping the balance of forces aright, opening as an artist this Beauty for people’s sight.
- She is the connection between senses and Intuition. Archetypal Female Patron & Muse for all Arts.
- She is the basis for memory (perception of sensual impressions; ATU-s VIII, XIII, XIV explain the process); and through this, she is the functional basis of our personal identity.
