What are the first two lines of Chapter 3 about? What is this phrase,"There is division hither homeward"? Homeward? What is that and why is there division? Also why would the God of War then go on to talk about "spelling"?

There is separation, division, between here (10) and home (1 or 0).
A word not known is a mystery.
Its spelling, inconsequential
All is not any (particular) THING
Be wary, doubting this
Yet hold it in your heart
Raise the spell !
