**23. Not aloud shall they praise thee; but in the night watch one shall steal close, and grip thee with the secret grip; another shall privily cast a crown of violets over thee; a third shall greatly dare, and press mad lips to thine.
    24. Yea! the night shall cover all, the night shall cover all.

For some reason this part always spoke to me and seemed true, even in a literal sense, even though it never happened to me exactly. Conversely, I don't know what this is at all. I think.

I have the inclination, influenced by the word "dare" in verse 23, to relate that verse to the 4 powers of the Sphinx - to Know, to Will, to Dare and to Keep Silent. Though it may not completely match up and I could probably be way off.

Not aloud shall they praise thee - Keep Silent
but in the night watch one shall steal close, and grip thee with the secret grip - to Will
another shall privily cast a crown of violets over thee - to Know
a third shall greatly dare, and press mad lips to thine - to Dare

Keep Silent speaks for itself, but it is worth saying that when I recognize divinity it is from within that this occurs and thus "not aloud" (though there may be outward actions). "to Will" occurs in the darkness of the night watch where Adonai is willfully sought out. "to Know" is a recognition and coronation of Adonai, privately, an adoration of God as known to V.V.V.V.V., and "to dare" the leaping forth of the aspirant to Union with the Angel.

Night covers all as this is all done in the privacy and sanctum of the heart.
