**39. Burn Thou strange herbs, O God!
40. Brew me a magic liquor, boys, with your glances!
41. The very soul is drunken.
42. Thou art drunken, O my God, upon my kisses.
43. The Universe reels; Thou hast looked upon it.
44. Twice, and all is done.
**I don’t have much on this. Intoxication in strangeness and magic. The innermost is intoxicated, the “very soul is drunken”. Also, the angel is drunken. Verse 13 of chapter 1 of the Book of Law comes to mind here “I am above you and in you. My ecstasy is in yours. My joy is to see your joy.” In this drunkenness and union the Universe is shaken as well. Adept, Angel, and Universe – all one and also expressed separately and each deeply affected by intoxicating the innermost parts of being. Desire is wielded and deals a heavy blow just by sight. “Twice, and all is done.” Is strange to me and my first impression is 2=0, but I haven’t made much of it.
