November 17 (Nuit) Liber L., Cap. I, v. 15-17
-
**15. Now ye shall know that the chosen priest & apostle of infinite space is the prince-priest the Beast; and in his woman called the Scarlet Woman is all power given. They shall gather my children into their fold: they shall bring the glory of the stars into the hearts of men.
16. For he is ever a sun, and she a moon. But to him is the winged secret flame, and to her the stooping starlight.
17. But ye are not so chosen.

Verses near and dear to me. There is a lot to play with in the frame of time suggested by the words (i.e. "now", "shall", "chosen"), the pantheon they suggest, their polarity, and their lofty goal.
I take this, in part, as an explanation of the offices of the "beast" and the "scarlet woman" and that they are linked. What they are, what they are given, what they are here to do, and what they accomplish thereby. Interestingly, after this we find that "ye are not so chosen". Again, a dichotomy arises, a difference, but in the context of no difference. Polarity is an instrument played to create the friction necessary for life. Left and right, up and down, husband and bride, sister and brother, force and form.
