Eye in triangle/eye on pyramid.

Same sources, sure, but surely no direct connection since AC's use dates to the earliest years of the 20th Century.
The primary link is through Freemasonry.
What's on the dollar bill, though, is not just the eye, but the full Great Seal of the United States, which (in a somewhat earlier draft) dates to the late 18th Century. There's a great deal of symbolism concentrated in that symbol. The eye etc., for example, is no more important than the otherwise unfinished pyramid which it crowns. See Liber LXV for an eloquent use of that symbol.

"What is a President doing Masonifying state currency with some weird phrase about a New Order?"
"New World Order" is a phrase that is as old as the very nation that started using it. It isn't conspiratorial or even unusual in context. It simply means the age of royals is done.
Sheesh.

Also Takamba, to add (from wiki);
Popular among conspiracy theorists is the claim that the Eye of Providence shown atop an unfinished pyramid on the Great Seal of the United States indicates the influence of Freemasonry in the founding of the United States. However, common Masonic use of the Eye dates to 14 years after the creation of the Great Seal. Furthermore, among the members of the various design committees for the Great Seal, only Benjamin Franklin was a Mason (and his ideas for the seal were not adopted). Indeed, many Masonic organizations have explicitly denied any connection to the creation of the Seal.

That's a bit of truth, a bit of politics, a bit of PR.
Freemasonry is what bound most of the founders of the United States together, other than their immediate mission. Do you think that the fact that Franklin was the only Mason on the design committee limits his impact, or minimizes the fact that he, Washington, Jefferson, Adams, and dozens of others had been sharing certain common, private social threads for decades? (I do not.)
I'm not surprised Masons are taking the political stance of minimizing this.
Besides, Freemasonry, as I mentioned, is just the surface layer, the first point that these various factors converge. They are deeper and older. Franklin in particular was more intimately connected to the older threads, both in the U.S. and especially in France.
