Silver, gold and precious water.

*63. The fool readeth this Book of the Law, and its comment; & he understandeth it not.

Let him come through the first ordeal, & it will be to him as silver.
-
Through the second, gold.
-
Through the third, stones of precious water.
-
Through the fourth, ultimate sparks of the intimate fire
Are these 4 ordeals the outer elemental stages or is it Silver as 2=9, Gold as 5=6 and so on?

I am not a Thelemic scholar Gerry but since Liber Legis appears to be (at least in my mind) a Qabalistic book speaking to us about human consciousness. I would agree with your last statement on the whole (is it Silver as 2=9, Gold as 5=6 and so on?) and possibly your first (Are these 4 ordeals the outer elemental stages) but it would be on a lower octave in my opinion. Your second statement maps well with the middle pillar on the Tree of Life. While your first could map with the lower Sephiroth on the Tree of Life (7-10). As long as we can both agree we are modeling The Divine Name Y.H.V.H.

"Quote Gerry456: So the ordeal of Tav is the Silver ordeal?
"
No, I wouldn’t think so Gerry.
Silver is attributed to The Priestess Atu-2 the moon which is planetary signature of Yesod. Atu-2 suggests reflection from the Sun of Tiphereth i.e. Yesod is a mirror. Tav has the attributions of Saturn Atu-21, the metal lead and limitation. Something just occurred to me Gerry, which scale are you refereeing too, an A.A. or a traditional Golden Dawn model? The reason I am asking is because the two have differences. -

"Quote gerry456: A.A."
Gerry, I am sure there are people here on the forums that are infinity more qualified than me to explain this. Just to be clear, I am not a member of the A.A. As a matter of fact I have gone out of my way not to read any more than I have to about it. It is my fondest wish to be admitted one day and I don’t want to ruin the surprise. It isn’t a test if you know what the test is going to be…just saying. By the way, when I think of the word “Ordeal” the term Cleansing comes to mind and borrowing from masonic terminology; this is a spiritual matter, not a race to the east.
