I am more familiar with the "Guardian of the Threshold".
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Guardian_of_the_Threshold
This has to do with being confronted with all your inner demons, what you fear the most, or your Jungian shadow, just before you make the leap towards enlightenment.
I think.

The Cry of the 30th AethyrHi Jim,
Just got your book. Find it really interesting, both a refresher of the Tree, and love the way you added the charts to the visions.
Thanks,

Probationary work clarificationsJust wear sunglasses, if you are outside. If you are inside, put a book on your lap. Then meditate.

Fraternitas L.V.X. OccultaThere's more ritual in FLO. Lessons are not as extensive in my opinion. Lessons are by Paul Foster Case in BOTA, and are unique.
Of course, I would say that.

Also, how long have you pursued a path? Like exercising the body, sometimes a certain amount of time and effort have to be invested before results.
I do not mean to suggest you go ahead and pursue something that isn't a good fit for you.

Enjoyed what you wrote.
Bast is small, but just as mighty. I do not remember her being a daughter, but do see her as a sister.

"We have nothing with the outcast""The whole point of individuation/attainment/enlightenment is to produce a mind that can move outside the collective reality tunnels and see them from without. Without such minds, the collective has no check on it whatsoever."

One-eyed childThree images came up for me.
1.Cyclops, of course.
"When Odysseus must leave his home to fight in the Trojan War, he never imagines that he'll be away from his family for so many years. Now, at long last, he is leading his men across the seas. But many dangers await them -- and none is more terrifying than Polyphemus, the one-eyed giant.
Odysseus and his men have defeated the one-eyed giant, but its curse plagues them at every turn. Cast out to the open seas by the wind god, Odysseus and his men face giant cannibals and outwit a beautiful witch, who reveals Odysseus's next challenge -- a journey to the mysterious and feared land of the dead."Are you Odysseus? Does this story bring up anything for you?

Bible quote:
Luke 11:34
The light of the body is the eye: therefore when thine eye is single, thy whole body also is full of light; but when thine eye is evil, thy body also is full of darkness.
Just what associations came up.

I, also, became ill on a vegetarian diet, and now eat meat.
Some people just aren't made to digest only vegetables, I guess. Kind of makes me think I am not sattvic enough. But, I'm not. More Asura than Deva.

Honesty in RitualFrater LR,
I appreciate your viewpoint and your ability to articulate it. Yes, if it needs to be experienced, it should be. That is when listening to your HGA is really important. Only he/she knows what is important for you to do on your own unique path. It takes courage to make any change. Momentum seems to be a greater force than anything else.
Thanks,

Honesty in RitualThanks. That was helpful. Yet, Thelema says to go to the furthest reaches of everything to find that balance. Like the Tree of Life, you only find the middle path, when you really know where the two opposites are. I find it remarkable the depths to which Thelemites go to delve to find bottom. Does it have to do with the lack of fear, as Froclown said?

About Balance:
"And it was a man, a Chinese man, and he was stacking these things, not with glue, not with anything. And I asked him how is it possible to do this? And he said, well, I guess with everything in life, there's a place of balance." Amy Tam, TED talks.

Honesty in RitualThanks. For whatever reason, I believe that somehow I must have used power unwisely and dangerously. Each time I do ritual work, my life falls apart, and I can't continue. Some crisis occurs that uses up all my time, attention, money, etc.
So, glad to hear about your theory of balance. My totem animal is the tortoise. Slow, awkward, timid, but persevering.

The Solar Phallic KingA person who does not fear defeat is deluded. That works for only a short time because of boldness and the lack of knowledge of others. That is good for getting something, but not keeping it. It's as if you are sure you will never fall down as you run and walk. Part of the skill is to know you will fall and how to get up without injuries to walk again.
My thoughts.

black magik in christianityWell said, Froclown. You know, I don't hate Obama, but I am unimpressed with him. He's a politician, all right. It's startling to hear of people who follow a man/god who says "love your enemies", to urge people to pray for the death of a political figure.
Life is strange.

Who here is tired of reading Temple of Solomon the KingI think that noticing the associations is a meditation, and soon you will see the giant web of life. Touch a strand, and the whole web shivers.
Well, that was cryptic, and I just wrote it.
There will come a time, when each of the numbers will be so infused with meaning, that you will see meaning and patterns in everything you experience. I remember reading about quantum mechanics and realizing that the no-thing, the Ain Soph, was just that. I tied it into the sea of boundlessness that I learned about in studying the Gita. The no-thing IS the Aleph and zero. Zero is the nothingness that all somethings come from, and out of, like the womb of Saturn/Binah is a the vagina or cervix of creation.I think it's hard to say in words what I mean.
Good luck.
