Well I honestly dont think you unconciously killed your cat on purpose. If you have that much of a disparency going on between your actions and your unconcious drives you might need to get professional help from a therapist. Everything that is born eventually dies, or changes. I have had pets since I was little, one time a whole litter of cats died on us because of luekemia. Just appreciate what you have while its there and be grateful, part of initiation is being able to see more of the whole instead of a limited perspective.

I tend to agree with you froclown to an extent....however I dont think that the unconcious mind is something that resides solely in the brain in the first place. My experience with synchronicities has definitly not been that I just pay more attention to certain things, a number of times people have been drawn to me that become my friends that later help me with the things that I had done rituals for in the first place.

I think I need to correct some of the posts. Alan Bennet was NOT a tibetan buddhist...he was a thai buddhist which is a completely different way of practice. There are no gods that are worshipped. And it is a very simple and clear path, if I met crowley I wouldnt want to get wrapped up in his ego trips either lol. Anyway the main text of buddhism is the dammapada which is a short text that everyone really should read. Its pretty sad that most buddhist schools do not use that text even though it is the most authentic buddhist text.

Honestly I dont think that the beings magicians contact can be neatly fit into a box. When you work magick synchronicities seem to happen which is how I most commonly experience it. So for those results to take place there has to be some sort of interface between the magician and the universe that is activated through ritual. Dreams are subjective, but dreams have influenced soo many inventions and ideas that have helped shape the way we live...so even thought the dream is subjective it has objective results in the end.

I have not done elemental magick personally but I found this article to be insightful, at least from a magickal/evocation/GD perspective.

Im sorry but I fail to see the point in animal sacrifice. Maybe someone could explain it to me? If its for added energy in a ritual then breadth training and chi gong would increase that much more. You certainly arent going to elevate your soul doing it. If you need more luck or a new job there are plenty of effective types of magick that dont involve killing an animal. No amount of animal sacrifice will ever make up for a lack of discipline, which is the only thing that pushes anyone forward in any endeavour.

Even if we use the psychological model for goetic work I see no reason why you would still not bind the spirits. Essentially they would represent untamed aspects of your psyche in which case you wouldnt bargain with them, you make them submit to the higher aspect of your conciousness. The threats are also made then to the more primitive aspects of your psyche because if they dont fall in line then they hurt the whole. Then the threats to them of living in a stinking hell (box with sulfur/asfoetida) is really letting them know what happens to a mind that isnt in order. No matter how much people try to escape duality, all life exists because of it, so use the tools that duality offers to bring everything into order. Does everyone think its a mistake that the spirits all have ranks and positions? They are like an unruly army, you cannot make an army function as a whole without disciplining it. Which is essentially what the binding and threatening is.

What I dont understand is why everyone uses the goetia to obtain material things and run errands for them, when the books lists many of them as teaching philosophy, liberal science or languages...

Bind and torture the little buggers like the grimoire says. I mean if you can bind them and force them to appear in the first place why bargain with them? At the same time I do think one should respect them, but like you would respect a wild dog. Unless of course you dont believe they are exactly what the grimoire says they are....Eh just my 2 cents.
