I'm not really qualified to comment on those topics. Michael Staley, who posts here under his own name, would be better person to ask.

As for my handle, I chose it because:

1. I like Grant's work, though I've only just begun to seriously study it.

2. I have this weird affinity with spiders. They love to come out of hiding, stand a couple of feet away, and just stay there, facing in my direction. This has happened in a variety of places, indoors and out. And yes, other people have seen them!

I've been an "armchair occultist" for many years, but a practitioner for very few. In addition to Crowley, I'm also fascinated by the works and ideas of Franz Bardon, Kenneth Grant, Austin Osman Spare, Michael Bertiaux, Peter Carroll, Dion Fortune, and many others.

Here's a weird story: As small children, my brother and I used to perform inexplicable "ceremonies" by setting up our toys in different patterns, circumambulating the room, and making formal-looking gestures. Years later, I was surprised to find that these activities bore some similarity to masonic ritual!

Anyway, I'm happy to be here.
