College of Thelema: Thelemic Education

Apologies for the off-subject nature of the thread. Aum418 has my e-mail. 93 All.

My reasoning for considering the OTO as less Thelemic would be discouragement of individuality in a couple of the group's functions. For instance, what is and is not allowed at a mass has become rather nit-picky, e.g. not being able to pass a certain point on the steps or decree "oh-yay." I definitely think the bureaucracy needs to be scaled back. I see the IOT as endorsing and greatly supporting individual experimentation and expression, however, I may be wrong. If so, I welcome accounts to the contrary. To that end, has anyone here had any affiliation with them?

I also think the EGC and OTO should return to being two separate entities as in the days of Hymenaeus Alpha. This way the OTO is free to focus on initiations and other events so that the order may grow more freely.

It really does seem like much fun. The experimentation is part of the reason I would suggest them as a flagbearer for Thelema. Stagnation is not the way to usher in a new Aeon.

I have been thinking in depth lately about the role that Thelemic organizations play in promulgating the law. It has come to my attention that while the A.'.A.'. is still at the frontier of the magickal art and science, the OTO has fallen behind and begun to swing a different direction.

I won't go too deep in detail on them but, I will say that I have noticed that they seem to be angling towards making the EGC somewhat of an organized religion. Of course this would require making Thelema more of a mainstream belief, and by proxy enforcing some sort of accepted or default understanding of the Book of the Law.

Now, my observations have lead me to take a look at some of the other organizations we have out there. And while thinking about the connotations of the guidelines, structure, and function of what is available I came to a realization.

To me it would seem that the Illuminates of Thanateros are more Thelemic than the OTO. I would appreciate all thoughts, questions, comments and criticisms on this theory. If anyone else has any ideas about other organizations they would be most welcome.

Would like to clarify, this A.'.A.'. is not tied to the O.T.O. although some individuals may choose to be members of both if they wish. There is no proper affiliation. Also, Last time I received a response from Jim regarding why there was no reply from the Cancellarius, she was indisposed. I would recommend reading the topics posted in the Initiation sub-forum.

I would just like to mention that the nearest OTO body to me has at least one initiate of the AA. It may be a good way to get further acquainted. As for my personal experience with the OTO, it's been good. I live in a city without a body, but we are trying to change that. I think the main ways I've benefited though are exoteric.

I think maybe you have many different topics going on that could be broken down in many different posts. Maybe in each post you could go into more details about each topic so people like me can follow what it is you are trying to say. As of right now I just can't follow the point of your post. Seriously, take a deep breath and talk about one subject for more than a couple lines. You can reach more people that way.

I actually have changed jobs since I posted this, but I was a maintenance worker for a restaurant. Getting an office job has eliminated most of these issues.

Hey, there is alot of good stuff on alchemy out there I think. Just not much of it is free. Personally, I see both those camps of alchemy really being unified. But, that's my take. For good learning materials check out adam mcleans alchemy website. Also The Path of Alchemy by Mark Stavish is a pretty good book on it.

Then again, the pictures of gods in the egyptian hieroglyphs show them with their hands on their thighs which implies their knees were spread although probably to a small degree.

Hopefully it is the latter, I used to do the former and it was incredibly difficult to maintain.

i agree with aum418 the only thing for each MOE degree is sponsors. I am currently a minerval.
