Do what thou wilt shall be the whole of the law.
Been stalking the forum for some time and decide to introduce myself now:
I'm 35 years old and living in Finland.I feel I've always been drawn to the occult/esoterism,looking for a deeper understanding of the self and the world around me.Never really pushed it that far to join an organisation from wich I could get guidance to go deeper into magick (mostly just studied different religious and left-hand paths etc),but lately the urge have grow stronger than before and I feel the time is right now to join.
I hopefully will be accepted to OTO as an Initiate. For the last two months I've been trying to do daily rituals as Liber Resh - and later followed Lesser banishing ritual of the pentagram, including daily meditations,Asanas and Pranayama. The next ritual I have in mind would be the Star Ruby, wich I would want to "master". If anyone has a better suggestion for a beginner what ritual would be better instead of Star Ruby, please
share it with me.
Meditiation and Yoga is something wich I've only had little experience, otherwise when dealing with Magick,I am a novice..so bear with me,as I will in the future ask odd-sounding questions..
Love is the law, love under will. -
Welcome!

I am not in O.T.O. myself and don't really have any plans to join so I can't specifically advise you as regards that path, but I will point out that Liber O (and the Golden Dawn traditions on which it was based) present both rituals at the same time and even present the invoking version of the pentagram first. So, as far as G.D. and A.'.A.'. magical training is concerned, it's probably worth working with both versions of that ritual as you begin to build up your daily regimen.

I don't actually know what Crowley wrote about this matter.

Sound advice. Just remember that "more important" doesn't mean "exclusively". It's definitely important to get yourself trained up to be able to banish anything you'll invoke, but it's in the invoking that the actual magical force is focused on the work at hand.
I don't know if Crowley wrote anything specific (aside from "neglect not the practice of the pentagrams" [paraphrase] in Liber Aleph and Magick Without Tears) but, if he did, I'd guess it was something along the lines of "Do what thou wilt."

Thanks for the valuable information, wich helps to get started further.
So far,I've only add to my "daily rutines" (trying, atleast) the Middle Pillar ritual, wich is lowly improving..The lesser Ritual of the Hexagram is probably a invoking ritual,I will try to learn next. One of the difficulties lies in the visualization - and probably has also do with concentration: It's often hard to have a proper visualization in the middle of the ritual (and to maintain during the whole ritual),and I've been trying to search some proper intructions have to improve my visualization by the help of Dharana practises, but so far I haven't really found any good practical tips how to start practising dharana instead of "just visualize some certain symbol and try to keep your focus on that symbol while eyes closed etc"..Are there any "easy symbols" to start with, or something..

Probably not what you want to hear but I've had my best luck visualizing pentagrams. I started out just trying to get any sort of pentagram to solidify in my internal vision while doing my daily rituals and then one day, something clicked, and a sharply defined woven pentagram appeared in front of my inner eye.
THC may or may not have been involved in crossing that first threshold.
