This forum may be inactive (and it's been a long while since I've seen Jim comment here), but it doesn't mean that Thelema itself is dead."It's dead if you see it dead. If you see it alive, if it flows through your nadis like a hippopotamus through a straw then it is very much alive. "
I agree.
Perhaps he meant that Thelema is dying, in the sense that the amount of Thelemites is decreasing - and in that case, I would like to see proof for that, because it is quite difficult to know the religious philosophy of every man and every woman on the planet. -
Hey, you guys see that new TV show Strange Angel? It's about Jack Parsons and Thelema. Of course, it's shit and has nothing to do with reality, but it was hilarious to see Crowley on CBS. Thelema is never born and never dies.
-
Aw, this show Strange Angel had to turn Thelema into a sex thing. I guess self-unrealization is too boring for TV.
-
It is a sex thing. Mistake not sex, for there is sex and sex.
Just look at the letters OTO
-
This Strange Angel show actually turned out to be pretty good. They show Crowley from behind in the finale, shooting heroin of course.
-
Hey you guys gotta check out this season 2 of Strange Angel. Great portrayal of AC.
-
I’m kinda “in between” and don’t have access to some things, so I can’t watch.
What do you like about the portrayal?
-
He's sexy.
*okay. I'm leaving now. Sorry.
-
Lol.
Do what thou wilt.
-
Previously:
Me: “I practice Thelema.”
Them: “What’s that?”After Strange Angel:
Me: “I practice Thelema.”
Them: “Whoa! You’re in a sex cult?!”The main proponent of the Law is a sociopathic murderer.
The show sucks.
-
Well...
****.
[sigh]

Yes, a slip of the tongue to a colloquial attempt to stay in polite company. My bad.

The Crowley in this showing is of the older variety, about five or so years before his death. The actor is Angus Macfadyen (aged and shaved bald). He's not as pale as I expect Crowley to be, but it could have been the California sun. Sexy is in the eyes, which hints madly at a man's power. His swagger and certainty of speech are results of learned behavior related to how the outside world treats a man - this Crowley does not slur, is not feeble, and obviously wields power.
Sexy, not sorry.
-
Imagine this man shaved and in a tasty London Fog coat & fedora.

You are right....
Sexy is in the eyes.As for that gentleman....
He didnt make my eyes twinkle.
Im sure he does lots for many many others though -
I've watched both seasons last weekend, and I kinda liked it.
I mean, yeah, it has a lot of inaccuracies:- Misconceptions of True Will and True Self
- Referring to the O.T.O. as "the Agape" (which is but a lodge of the O.T.O.)
- A ridiculous performance of a shortened version of the Bornless Ritual
- Lots of BS regarding the Abyss and the Crossing thereof (except for what Crowley said about it, which was quite vague)
(and more)
But it would make people interested in Thelema, and then they may read and be able to tell what the series got wrong.
And even if the series left a bad impression on some people, it would not do more harm to Thelemites than what has already been done.
