Consecrated your Magical Weapons?
-
I am writing out of confusion. After having read Jim's book, and Book 4, twice actually counting Liber ABA. I was under the understanding that in the A A, one did not begin to construct and/or consecrate your magical weapons beginning with the Pantacle as a Neophyte?

Like RifRaf, I'm not sure what the question is here and (substantially repeating what he said) my remark would be:
Yes, within the A.'.A.'. system, the five magical implements are created and consecrated as distinctive tasks of the 1=10, 2=9, 3=8, 4=7, and Dominus Liminis grades.
And, of course, outside of the A.'.A.'. system there would be different rules or no particular rules.
PS - Since it deals with magical implements, I'm moving this thread to the Magick forum.

Well, to be more specific. Is a Probationer in the A A required to begin the consecration of his/her magical weapons? I thought that began at the Neophyte level?

No offence but I thought you stated somewhere that you were a probationer? Wouldn't you be given that instruction if it were so?
I think anybody can fashion whatever weapons whenever, but certain systems are going to have the schedule laid out for you.

You are correct. The assigned task begins at 1=10. There is no requirement or expectation that a Probationer do these.

When writing my superior for my monthly "carefully worded essay" that he requires, one of the things he replied to me was, "Why haven't you begun your work on consecrating your magical weapons?" Not wanting to upset him further, I started researching my references, and then decided to post a general question on here.
Thank you for clarifying. I purchased Jim's book, and I thought I would double check what I thought I was right on.

For what it's worth, the following is from an editorial by Aleister Crowley in Equinox No. 7.
@Eqx Editorial said
"I have been asked by Authority to say a few words on the relations which should subsist between a Neophyte and his Probationers. Though a Neophyte is obliged to show ‘zeal in service’ towards his probationers, it is no part of his duty to be continually beating the tattoo... He is not expected to set definite tasks, nor has he authority to do so [emphasis added]. The Probationer is purposely left to himself, as the object of probation is principally that those in authority may discover the nature of the raw material."

Verily, amen, and ah-so!
This is one of the best "tests" that one can apply to a "Neophyte" [or "higher-grade" teacher] or any system that professes to be affiliated with A.'.A.'..Sometimes the "teacher" just can't wait to get involved in telling the Probationer what to do - and of course this violates the whole concept of probation. Beginners beware!
